I normally try and read all new posts to the forum. However I've been away for the last 10 days (not in the van) and made a conscious effort to avoid the Internet. Come back to find my unread post count is 1597!!

Yep , thats the way it goes ....:D
And all in all it has not been that busy the last few days here...

When home i check two three times a day at least
On holliday , first thing when there's free wifi....check forum:cool:

Delete all your 'new posts' and don't try and catch up.
If you dip in like this from time to time you'll developed a much more relaxed way of auditing what's going on in the CaliCommunity rather than adopt the anal 'I'll read everything and miss nothing" approach.
If when you're away you miss an important thread, by definition it will reappear.

You know it makes sense :D

I just go to "recent posts " and than try to read everything my intrest goes to and the new posts...
But when your a few days offline that also counts up quickly...

it really amazes me how busy this forum is, you would think there is only so much we could talk about but there is always good quality content on here paired with some really nice people.

I read them all. But I am a bit sad

As with barry ...

step one: Delete all "unread".

Step two: Make a cup of coffee if morning, tea if afternoon, pour wine if evening. In fact do nothing until evening.

Step three: drink more wine.

Step four: Go to new posts and read what will now be about twenty, congratulate oneself on being a speed reader, have another glass of wine.

I suspect GrannyJen has a filter to ensure she doesn't miss any posts involving the word 'wine'.

:headbang Whish I hadn't clicked on here.......I didn't know there was a click on facility to catch up on unread posts, I got back last week after being away from wifi for 7 weeks,so looks like I'm going to spend the weekend catching up......:shocked 7 weeks

Catching up is ever so simple.

Filter out all my drivel and only messages worth reading can be read...

Simples, as that exasperating piece of desert vermin says .....

I've cleared the backlog. I don't want testing on any recent threads, but I didn't press the 'mark forums read' button.

But we like your so called drivel. It's delightfully irreverent :thumb

perhaps VW can add to their range ...

The Beach, the Ocean and ...

the Drivel .... a satnav that tells jokes at traffic lights, a fridge with a wine-cooler compartment, a pop up roof with a blow up hand attached that waves regally at all and sundry....

Our previous sat nav was "R2d2". I used to love the "oh dear, turn around when possible " or "you have reached your destination..... marster". The new one is accurate but not as much fun :)

My first Discovery had a sat nav with a terribly soft middle England accent. I called her Catherine. I always imagined her baking cakes and calmly taking her oven gloves off to tell me "Now Jennifer, take the third exit off the roundabout ... and be terribly careful as the traffic is rather busy...."

I think you mean C3P0. R2D2 only beeps which wouldn't be much use for a sat nav!

Is it me or has this forum become much more busy in the last few months? Last year I used to log in and check all the posts just once a week but this is no longer sifficient as there are so many new posts each day.

I am not complaining at all, it is awesome to have such a great resource of information and such nice members, unlike other forums where some people just love to have an argument.

Hi victor
Lovely post
You will experience forum bravado on here from time to time, but wouldn't it be boring without it :D
