T6 Ocean 204
With the order book about to open, was wondering how many people are thinking of ordering a new Cali this year

Need to get 3-4k off the list to be able to add the options I'll want so may have to wait until deals kick in.

At this count they won't be selling many new Cali's this year...
But most of us got their dreamcar so why trade it for a lot unanswerd questions?

I can't see the need to change, other than our cali is now 4 years old. Dare I say (although I won't go down that road, honest!) the Marco Polo appears a more appealing upgrade than the T6 Ocean - I need to wash my mouth out!

The problem is that no Mercedes Benz dealers have any clue about the Marco Polo, what it is or when it is coming out.

One dealer I phoned even said that VW made it!

It's definitely coming to the UK in 2016, according to the below UK document:

Looks pretty but not liking the curtains in the Activity (Beach equivalent). Be intrigued to see it next year but will probably still be ordering a T6 Beach later this year. More of a known entity!

Txs! Even though it's tempting, I think, as you say, the VW is much more of a known quantity.

From the link above for the Mercedes Marco Polo 'Activity', it appears to have Dual Sliding doors. Something that doesn't seem possible or available on the UK Cali Beach. I'd prefer a Beach with Twin sliders and maybe a central rail table. Just seems easier in so many ways for our family. Others will differ of course, esp if you plan to fit kitchen pods etc. But my wish list for the T6 Cali Beach includes 4Motion, mechanical diff lock,Dual sliding doors and a few other bits and bobs. The final Euro cost after playing on the German Configurator comes to about Euro 62,000.00. Scary stuff. So I, along with everyone else waits for the Standard Specs and Options to appear. As I'm in NZ I may have to wait a bit longer for VWNZ to get it together. I've stopped holding my breath.

Had a look at the German Mercedes configurator and the Marco Polo 'Activity' looks ridiculously basic, below! The interior is horrible black plastic and the engines are limited to the lower spec. Of course, the 'regular' Marco Polo looks stunning, gets the better engines and has a plush interior - but also costs a LOT more.

In fairness, VW do make some compromises for the Beach, in comparison to the Ocean, but nothing like Mercedes have made for the Activity. Definitely a 150PS DSG Beach for me (with the upgraded dashboard, if possible). Order books opens on Monday so I guess the options list will be with us next week.

Sure is. I've had this confirmed by two dealers, both quoting a 2015 delivery date. Here's one of the mails I received this week:

Hi Paul ,we can order new California from 3rd of August onwards and we will have full options list from this date too. If you are still interested please give me a call.

I would love to but my wife is not convinced just yet :(.
My A6 is only just two years old so I may have to see it through to 3 years (and even more shocking depreciation) before ordering its replacement :headbang

Definitely a 150 DSG Beach for me though - with upgraded dashboard and LED headlights; gotten too used to xenons to go back to Halogen, even if it does end up costing the same as a decent first car!

Keep us informed of your order - any negotiation, etc. Good luck.

Hi all,
I'm hoping to order on Monday too.
Do you think they'll be any discounts available?
Would dealers compete for my custom?
There are 2/3 dealers within about 45 mins of me.
Need to try and get a couple of extras and stay at the base price for a beach.

Let us all know how you get on!
Bear in mind, this is the absolute worst time to negotiate: the T6 is, of course, brand new and in demand; it's the start of the month and most motor retailers work on monthly targets so there's no pressure there yet; it's mid-year so there's no end of year targets to claw back either.

Will do. I was thinking this is the worst time to negotiate too!
I suppose what I might do is look at the options and spec up a Beach that I would like and then tell them the price I will pay. They can then refuse and I'll say to them that they can ring me when they want to sell at that price. Maybe I might get a phone call towards the end of the month (I can dream eh?).

Exactly my plan!

We're quite close, perhaps we should go to a dealer together for a bulk order!
Could they turn down two purchases??? :D
Good plan, but my wife is still far from convinced, sadly. I really wish I could.

In my experience you will very, very, very rarely get a return phone call or reply to a voice mail or an e mail from any Vw dealerships whether you are buying a £50k Cali or a £12k Polo even after you have payed a deposit!

Any body ordered yet, I went in to local dealer today to order but didn't in the end, think I'm going to ring round Monday to see if any other dealer wants my order, "now I know what I think I want"

It might take a year to arrive :sorry
