Thanks its now 4 years old its a 140 manual standard apart from sport line wheels and lowered suspension

are those silver bits between the wheels "sidebars", what do they do, do they work and can I have them retro fitted?

I think originally they were on landrovers and called rocksliders for sliding over rocks when off roading now it a bit of bling and something else to polish

Calikev! It nice model of van I must say it is a good option to use while going for any trip or tour with your family and you can carry it yourself. I mean to say it will be the right option for private tour.

Yep, sidebars can be retro fitted Jen. Albert would love them but the butler may grumble a bit. More silver to clean

Rock sliders on Land Rovers, especially Defenders, replace the Sills and are made of substantial steel box section fitted directly to the chassis and as their name suggests for sliding over rocks and taking the full weight of the vehicle. The side bars in the photo protect the sills from minor knocks and definitely have the deterrent effect in the car park of making people take care opening their doors onto your pride and joy. VW do them and you can still use the jacking points, other makes are available but often cover the jacking points.
