Cali now sold
On a long trip north tonight I switched on the rear heating for the first time since buying the van. The rear fan was set to one and the heating to fully up. The air whistling around my legs was cold. Our Cali has the standard Aircon set up which was working perfectly in the front.

So my question is, how does the rear heater get it's heat? Is it from the hot water from the engine cooling being circulated when the switch at the front is on, or does it have it's own independent heating element?

There is a button marked "Rear" on the heater controls on the dash, when this is switched on the rear passengers can control the heat from the engine coolant system with the panel above the rear window on the RHS of the van.

Had that switch on and ran it for about 1/2 hour, but still it was cold in the back. So perhaps I have an airlock in the coolant system?

I'm not an expert on the rear heating as I never sit in the back when the van is moving (too far from the pedals and steering wheel). My wife Margaret, who has, is not technical and usually asks me to turn the heating down so I can't help further; no doubt someone more knowledgeable will assist ....

That is the same reason why I am only just finding out about this after over a year of ownership. I left the engine running after the trip and went in the back to feel around the vent. And very cold it was too!

Sounds like I may need to have a chat with Breeze. Thanks anyway.

On mine theres a sync button press that and all temperatures set to your temp switch on heater.

I thought the rear and sync buttons where features of the Climitronic upgrade. We have Climatronic and the Sync button means that that all three zones are set to the same temperature as per mucksmuff's post. The rear button switch the controls in the front over to control the rear fan and temperature setting. So could it be you have the temperature set to cold in the back?

I find hitting the sync button is a good way of getting all setting back to "normal". I also love the Rest button which uses the engine heat to warm the van for up to 30mins after you stop. Handy for when we do a quick stop at motorway services and the wee-one is asleep in the back.

The basic AC doesn't have a sync button mores the pity.

The rear temp control is turned up full, so it should have been roasting. We came back from the West Midlands this afternoon and left the rear heating on all the way down to Bournemouth. I hoped it would clear a air lock in the water system, but on arrival the rear vent was still pushing out cold air.

When I get time I will investigate further, but for now I am snowed under with student assessments.:sad
