Reclining chairs

Just got back from a four week European tour and wonder if anyone can offer advice on some quality, comfy and lightweight reclining chairs? The VW ones are great but there comes time when you just want to have a gentle snooze in the sun!

Just gone through the same exercise ourselves. Four weeks in France and my wife is longing for a lounger. A walk round our present campsite and we spotted some LaFuma recliners the fit the bill perfectly. They are expensive but well made and comfy. The couple using them said that Carrefour have them on offer so we are off there tomorrow early as it's our last full day in France. Check out the LaFuma website and amazon. The ones we saw were padded not the netting covering. Hopefully there is a photo attached. The photo shows the chairs with a towelling cover which is optional. No connection with LaFuma by the way.

What about this. Easily stored, easily inflated and just £30.

Thanks, Bob. There seem to be a number of different versions, but the main difference seems to be how the material is fixed to the frame - clip or rubber line. Both look fine. I wonder what the Carrefour deal is? LaFuma website has them in a sale for £100, so that's quite decent saving. Good reviews too.

We have 2 of this similar design, bought 15 years ago netting covering, with stretch cord. replaced cord once. most comfortable chairs we have. bought at lafuma factory shop in france.

Just had two LaFumas delivered. Supremely comfortable and very good quality! Thanks for the advice and support. David.

Do these LaFumas fold down nice and small - where do you put them in the van when travelling???

I put them in front of the rear seat on the floor, or if I'm only using the roll-out awning I can fit them in the lower boot area. It's a bit of a compromise, but worth it when you get there.

Just received two of the chairs we were after. Apparently they no longer make the ones we wanted, however LaFuma UK put us onto a distributor who had some of the old stock. Wonderfully comfortable and worth every penny. We plan to keep them on top of the mattress behind the rear seat. Should add that these are the chairs with a padded covering. Used them yesterday evening and both of us fell fast asleep.

I've seen the Lafuma and other brands but none of them at the moment come up to my high expectations and specifications and I'm wondering if anyone on the forum can help me in my quest. I need two of the following.
I want the ZERO GRAVITY TYPE the ones that can be arranged so that one's feet can be up at the same level as one's head.
IT MUST HAVE 4 LEGS as opposed to the type that have the one piece of bent steel because I think that type would be unstable for example on a pebble beach or on sand or on hard uneven sites.
IT MUST BE MADE FROM ALUMINIUM must be lightweight my wife and I don't want to be carrying anything like 10 kilos from the site to the beach (which was the weight of a steel version I saw that fitted all the other criteria we wanted)

4 legs on a sandy beach. You might get that sinking feeling!:D
That's why most beach chairs have the bent type legs.

The 12 kilo one I saw had horizontal bracing bars front and back about 6" up from the bottom of the legs which would stop any sinking and is what I'd be looking for in a lighter chair and would not be solely for beach use. Personally I think those camping chairs with the bent tubular bases are the manufacturers cheap answer to making legs and not really well engineered.
I'm still looking
