Ayesha and Richard living in Brighton have just acquired a California after many years tent camping. We stayed at a Caravan Club site near Hastings last weekend. Nice small site and friendly people. 16 century pub (very good food) 4 minutes walk through the woods. We are looking forward to discovering the joys of a campervan during the year. Next trip may be towards Ipswich. If anyone has a suggestion for a site with at least basic facilities please let us know.

Not sure how best to make use of the cupboards. The tall cupboard by the fridge is a puzzle how to make best use of the space. Hanging clothes in it does not seem likely. Any thoughts?

Welcome , so you swapt your tent for a tent on wheels....nice!
As for to puzzle all your stuf in the Cali , do some searching on the forum , it will deliver some great tips , but it depends a lot om what your way of camping is ....
Starting from toilets.....lots of discussions here! To pots an pans , plastic plates , folding buckets,.... , you can have it all! But its up to you how to give it a place in the Cali accoring to your priority.
Start reading some topics and you will discover a whole new world:)

Many thanks for the welcome. It has taken five years of looking to finally take the plunge. Looking at toilet bags too as wild camping appeals. I will explore the forums as you suggest.

Good afternoon Ayesha and Richard and welcome.

The tall cupboard with the hanging rail in it... ok, for me I put my evening tops, shoes, bags in it.

I normally travel and slob around by day in the sort of crease proof travel wear sold by the likes of Rohan that is quite happy being squashed into various bags that go in the bench seat drawer. By night I do like to tart myself up by putting on something a bit dressier and looking a bit less like a female lumberjack.

I like the distription how one member summed up the tall cupboard "the pit"
That how it works for me
Cram all the clothing in and quickly close the door :)

Alan

Welcome Ayesha & Richard, you hang clothes neatly in the tall cupboard when you first pack; after that you just stuff them in and listen to the empty coat hangers rattling :D

We keep all the bedding in the cupboard yy the fridge it folded up. We keep our clothes in small holdalls, one each that we move around.

Welcome Ayesha and Richard,

Like you we have just swooped our tent for a Cali and will be on our first adventure next weekend. We have started to put things in the van and keep moving them. Guess it may take a few trips to find what works best and even then it may where and where you are going, and for how long. The forum is a great place for ideas.

Just signed up for Cali's on the farm...looking forward to meeting other enthusiasts.

Safe travelling.

Maggie

Many thanks for the welcome Maggie and we will learn in parallel. I like Alan's quote about the cupboard as the 'pit'. Thanks also to the motorcyclist and the Skylark for their suggestions and welcome.
