What you need to do is look under the bonnet there will be a plaque
With the axle weights on. You need to divide by 2 to give you kg per wheel. So for instance if the front axle weight is 1600kg that's 800 kg
You can then look at a chart to tell you the minimum load rating you need. 800 by the way would require a load rating of 100
 
235/50R18 101 XL Or 255/45R18 103 XL Tyres
Suitable for T5 Transporters

For example: T26 to T30 require a 101 XL so please choose the 235/50 Tyres

T32s must have the 103XL to stay legal so please choose the 255/45 Tyres

These are the VW factory recommendations to stay within speedo tolerances and load data.

Best bet is check your axle specification. A 101 is capable of an axle weight of 1650kg, a 103 is 1750kg
