Bought this Curver 4kg pet food container for £10, really good quality. It takes pedal bin liners inside and you just open the small lid to put rubbish in. It has rubber seals so no smells and fits behind the passenger seat. I modded mine to get rid of the cutesy kittens etc with some vinyl wrap.

Good find, prefer the kittens though :)

Stil can't see why one carry's a waste bin in a Cali where the space is limited.
We just use a plastic bag and trow it out in the bin on site or camping trashpark.
Don't ever stays it longer than 1/2 day in the Cali that way ,so no smells
See everyone has his habbits. The waste bag just sits in front near the pedals , or outside under the van.

Because it's my home not a builders van that smells of bananas and has tea bags dripping through a tiny hole onto my carpet. Works for me, next to the kitchen, less chance of mess, spills etc. We use it all day when travelling etc not just when camping, and you can fill it without worry of bag tipping over etc. Call me old fashioned but i like my limited space to be as organised and efficient as i can make it.
I can also recommend these packing cubes we use. We each have a different colour the capacity is good and they fit under the rear seat or in the wardrobes, easy to find your stuff quickly.

So you don't even have sweet papers and old copies of the the Daily Star sliding across the dash, and "Clean Me" written in the dirt on the back door then?

And travel 2 feet off the vehicle in front :D

hellow
We've used a plastic bag before but changed to this: a bin from ikea: cheap and easy to use.

We've put it at a door of the kitchen (without drilling holes) but you can easily put it next to the kitchen. We have a T4 california but in a T5 there is also space for the bin. (We put other things there, so we don't have the space next to the kitchen).

As a tradesman i am used to van abuse and sticky dashboards, chip wrappers etc but the Cali is "my precious". lol

We use an old rucksack on the bikerack, it's got some eyelets in the bottom so it can drain. Keeps stinky rubbish out of the van until we can next find a bin.

It's secure enough that it doesn't get raided by bears and other such beasties.

We always use supermarket bags but are already finding a shortage as we spend a lot of time in N Wales. This means we have to buy bin bags, which must be just as harmful to the environment as supermarket bags, surely? Or are they made out of degradable plastic, and if so, why not use the same plastic for shopping bags? Or why not use paper bags like they do in USA (on TV, anyway)?

You can also use the white bags from supermarkets that they put out for fresh produce, take a few extra.................!!!

Better stock up on Supermarket bags those of you who live in England. They'll be charging from October 5th 2015.:shocked

Small plastic swing bin (Colour coded to match van). Sits outside. Emptied on exit from site.

Can't believe I'm discussing bins…….!!

Such a shame that no one tows a wheelie bin behind their van.

We could separate this into two threads then.

The bin on holiday thread and the wheelie bin on holiday thread.

Result! Got one of these we used to keep the dog food In. So that is one accessory I don't need to buy! Great idea thanks. Phil

I'm from Scotland and indeed am coming to the end of supermarket bags. However I too use the fresh fruit ones....I have to make more trios to the bin but deters smells...and mice!

Try Eagle Creek Pack-it Specter for a variety of sizes and colours...sox in one, trews in another...really lightweight and slippy slidey so can squeeze loads into a small space. Cheaper if bought in USA.
