This isn't actually a Cali centre but seeing as there isn't one in Cornwall, it's the next best thing.

Took the van in for a few niggles - got a high end Golf (GT TDi) courtesy car, they have ordered the water gauge sensor, couldn't find the other issue (it's very intermittent - a suspension clunk) and cleaned out the food cupboard - we'd left the window above very slightly open by mistake and they dried it all and put all our food in boxes! They also cleaned it.

So pretty impressed really! :D

Back in today for the water gauge (had to be ordered in). Now have a Touran 2.0TDI Bluemotion for two days. Not my cup of tea but nippy and 50mpg average isn't bad!

Great service once again. Shame they don't sell Calis!

Well they actually replaced the entire steering column (I had a slight "clunk") every now and again, fixed some aircon malfunction, replaced both boot struts (they were rather stiff/noisy), both water tank gauges and gave it a good clean. PHEW!

Found Murrays to be rude, unprofessional and wasted my time. Actually went in with the intention of driving away that day with a pre-registered Berghaus they had. Ended up with my wife and I walking out in disgust.

Fast forward a couple of hours to Carrs of Exeter. Couldn't believe the difference in professionalism. Signed for a new Berghaus within an hour and took delivery of it a week later. After sales service has also been exemplary.

Murrays weren't great with us and Carrs Exeter, while professional, didn't seem to make much effort to help us find a 4Motion. So bought one from Preston!

However Carrs Indian Queens (Cornwall) who don't sell Calis, have been superb in sorting a few niggles out - they seem to be a very good dealership overall.

You joined the berg club Murray :)
Tell me you got a blue one ..I'm dying to see one :) ...

Yep, got a blue one. The one at Plymouth was also a blue Berghaus.

Another vote for Carrs Exeter here :thumb
They're 50 miles from me but after the horrors of dealing with my local outfit the trip is well worth it - they sorted (mostly) my not inconsiderable snagging list when it was under warranty. The local shower were utterly utterly hopeless, even telling me that things weren't covered under the warranty and i'd have to sort it myself :shocked
I won't name and shame but let's just say i live in Barnstaple

With all my previous vehicles i've only had them serviced at the dealer whilst under warranty then taken them to my trusted independant after that.
But i've been so impressed with Carr's that i'll carry on taking our pride and joy there, it is a complicated beast after all and they really do seem to know what they're doing.

Not sure what's happened but this branch of Carrs has lost my business for life.
They ruined my paint (sorted after much hassle), don't return even the most urgent calls, were unhelpful when I wanted to test a car, etc.

I'm trying Carrs Exeter to replace my control panel and butterfly latch. So far so good; the chap was very helpful and is ordering the parts in; no need to drive there, get it "approved" then drive back. Fingers crossed!

You should be fine with them though it's even more of a trek for you then it is for me (100 mile round trip).

I used both Carrs and they've always been good. India Queens is a car and van centre isn't it, which is quite unusual.

Exeter Carrs always brilliant and the kind of dealership you need when you have a Cali.

Hope you get it all sorted.

James

Well they sorted the latch and control panel then found an EGR fault; fixed this, it lasted two days then threw up a fault again.
Now Exeter is a long way away (I spent a long day off work) so it's back at IQ. The service guy definitely doesn't like me and when I moaned about hopeless emission reducing nonsense he muttered "yes they're a problem if you use forums."

Anyway I have a fairly base spec mk7 Golf; seems okay but I do prefer the 1 series BMW, especially the interior.

We have even very impressed with Carrs. Nick has spent a lot of time helping us to select the right California for what we needed and is always willing to answer our questions when I call. Our Cali doesn't arrive until July so I will update the forum on the handover and after sales care then.

Our handover was tailored to us taking into account that I was already familiar with the controls, air con etc from my Skoda. We concentrated on the parts I wanted to learn about and I was not rushed and questions were encouraged. Nick has been on a specific California course and was keen to make sure we went away happy but left the door open for me to phone or return to ask questions.

Ordered our T6 from Nick too - I'll be using them for servicing from now on. So far so good.

Dealt with Nick when I went in for a price on a T6 transporter. He's just want you want from a salesman: knowledgeable, friendly and most importantly not pushy or full of BS. He even got back to me via email answering specific questions he needed to get clarification on, which is a first for me from a dealer.
Unfortunately I was able to buy elsewhere much cheaper but he did what he could.
Not that it helps him but I'll be using Carrs for servicing etc as their customer service is top notch.

Nick slightly undercut the price we got from the dealer we used before (Preston, known for their good Cali prices) which seemed pretty good. And we get a Westcountry reg too!

Another thumbs up for Carrs today. Had to have my cracked windscreen replaced and again the service was top notch. Pete on the service desk made sure that we were very well looked after and gave us complimentary park and ride vouchers so that we could go into Exeter. He also drove us to the park and ride terminal and said to give him a call when we wanted to be collected. A great job was done on our Cali with no hassle at all. Very impressed.

Just collected our new T6 from Carrs. Give me a commercial vehicle dealer over a car dealership any time if they are all like Carrs. Straight talk from Nick and he goes out of his way to help. He beat all the other quotes. Kept completely in the picture all the time. We had previously hired a T5 and the workshop guys were excellent too. Recommend strongly.

I couldn't agree more! We dealt with Steve right the way from our initial enquiry in September, to collection on Wednesday. He has been extremely helpful throughout, responding to my numerous questions very promptly by email. Best of all, he didn't try to pull the wool over our eyes regarding the shambles of the T6 launch, and freely admitted that they had very limited information. He was very good at getting quick clarification from VW on any points that were not clear. I value this as I knew where we stood, as he was always up front.

Would definitely recommend!!

What a contrast to my experience...a total botch up. A disinterested salesman, with hopeless product knowledge, and very poor communication. The salesman has now left. I Ordered 25th May, after a really patchy sales experience. He was not proactive at all in selling me my van and all its features, amd hadn't a clue on various bits and pieces. He has bothered to contact me once subsequently, with the build week. Further emails were ignored (only four or five so not exactly a demanding customer), and I telephoned this afternoon to be told he'd left. No consideration had been given to this guys customers and it was up to me to ring to find out what was going on. Told the build week has moved back, which is not an issue that Carrs can prevent. But come on...keep your customers up to date!
I've been told today that NIck will be looking after me, fingers crossed for better with him. I'm slightly miffed that it wasn't picked up by management before that they had a below standard employee, even though everyone in the showroom can see what's going on with each sale. I spoke to the Business Manager today who was extremely sorry, but at the end of the day, I'm buying a very high priced product, that's meant to be fun, and it hasn't been a nice experience at all.

Let's hope it gets better from here for you.

We ordered our California in June. The salesperson who has now left is probably the gentleman who dealt with us. We knew that he was relatively new to the job but we found him to be an extremely approachable person and answered all the questions he could and for the questions he was not able to answer, he promptly found the answers. When considering the optional extras for the vehicle we found that he was very helpful and that he "knew his stuff".
We were disappointed when we heard he had left and we wish him well. We have been introduced to Nick and we look forward to continuing our more than satisfactory relationship with Carrs of Exeter.
