I had never seen them before either but I heard the same explanation from a friend with a Freelander about 6 months ago. It's just the right height to hang the takeaway bag on so that it doesn't spill on the way home.
Very amused to see the same hook in our Cali when we picked her up 2 weeks ago.

I think it's for her handbag.

Noooooo. Definitely for takeaways.

Can't seem to find this on my 2012 SE , LHD
Am i missing a great option....?

Ahh, that's because Curry is apparently the favourite UK takeaway, so only on UK vehicles.:bananadance

Don't even know what you mean....
We use curry ( as sauce)with rice and chicken , but guessing not the same

I know, but according to the BBC today, Indian Curry was No1 in the UK for eating out and Takeaways. Apparently the average spend is just over £1000/pa/family. I don't know where they get the figures from. We prefer Chinese.

You've got the posh dash, posh people are expected to dine in restaurants.

We've got the builder's van dash which has the hook for the builder's takeaway :D

:)Nice but think it is a UK thing not common this side of the channel
"Curry"

We go for (french) fries and meat to take out.
Or pita , pizza , chinees food...
