I've recently bought my third campervan (first was a 1974 VW, then a VW T6, and now a Transit). It's by far the best purchase my wife and I have ever made. We're mountain bikers, have family scattered all over, love to take our dog wherever we can, make a great road trip team, value our own known space wherever we go for as long as we're away whether it's a day trip or weeks. It opens up an incredible number of opportunities big or small.
I built my van very slowly, starting with nothing but a folding bed and cabinets, chest cooler full of ice and only adding what I found I needed as opposed to trying to anticipate my needs might be. And as a result, I think I got it pretty spot on with my van conversion. No major complaints.
