After a very interesting meeting with nick at comfortz leisure they can now supply a complete
Replacement mattress for the upstairs bed made from 2 inch memory foam. This will replace the mattress that is already there allowing the roof to close as normal. It will come in two sections like the original and be covered in grey fabric. Price will be approx £180 for vip's £200 for non
Vip's and should be available from next week.

Is the purpose of this mattress to allow the Zonesleep Topper to be kept in place when the roof is down? We have a Zonesleep Topper and would welcome such a product.

Martin

No this is a direct replacement for the original mattress. If you have a word with nick I'm sure he could make you a slightly thinner mattress :thumb allowing you to leave your topper in place :thumb

Hi Folks,

A couple of people have asked for a roof mattress designed to work in unison with the zone sleep mattress, so if were to produce a 1" high density foam mattress to replace the roof mattress, so the zonesleep topper could be left in the roof all of the time - how many people would be interested? - Just a thought???? :D

Thanks for listening, Nick :)

Yes, I think that'd be a great combination, which would save a large amount of valuable space in the boot. Hopefully good for both of your businesses, too :thumb

Some quick ideas...

Whilst the ZS is best with just a (washable) cotton sheet, a base might be better with something more substantial/protective than what VW provide on the factory mattress (and maybe that'd also help differentiate it from the VW one).

Don't think it'd need fastenings as the ZS elastics should keep it attached, but it'd be worth testing that the topper doesn't slide down it as the roof is pushed up, and that it doesn't shuffle as the roof is going down. Maybe some Velcro loops at the cab end?

Just my 2p!

Best wishes,
Steve

PS Happy to be a beta tester!

Hmmm interesting Steve- I have the template for the roof mattress so leave it with me :D

If memory serves me right the original roof mattress has Velcro attach with the opposite side stapled to one or two of the wooden slats - perhaps some extras could be supplied.

I picked up top mattress from Nick the other day and we put it straight into the Cali.

Bit difficult to get a good picture even with a wide angle lens on but this gives the general idea.

The fit is spot on and being in two pieces it's so much easier to get in and out of the roof space.
It feels a lot comfier than the standard Cali one so it will get tried out this weekend.

While I was there Nick fitted one of his new seat covers. These really do look good and he says they can be made in different colours etc. Its a shame we already have the Brandrup ones that came with the van as I think these add a nice bit of colour to the rather bland interior.
Quick piccy taken on the phone.

Do you think they can be left in place when you shut the roof?

Hi Everyone,

Yes they're designed as a direct replacement for the original roof mattress (even the little piece at the rear) and can be kept in the roof at all times. We've been able to work on the price a little to make it a little more easy on the pocket and they'll be going on the website for £150 to VIP members.

I can also produce a 1" high density mattress for anyone who wants to keep their zonesleep mattress in the roof at all times, just drop me a line if you're interested.

I've had a lot of interest about a waterproof mattress protector for the roof mattresses so these will be available for both the original mattresses and our memory foam replacement shortly :thumb

Our seat covers are still in the final stages of being designed and we will be able to offer a very bespoke service on these, a full range of car upholstery fabrics to choose from as well as faux leather and suede options. More to come on these soon......

Hi Nick,

I would be interested in a thinner one so that I can keep my zonesleep topper in the roof.

Regards, Curtis

Hi Curtis, drop me a call 01246 825873 and we can manufacture one for you £100 delivered. :thumb

Hi Barry, there's going to be several different options on the seat covers (cost wise), but we're not quite there yet, I'll pop an announcement on the forum when they're ready to go.

Cheers
Nick

We've just tested a thinner mattress that Nick made to enable the zone sleep topper to stay in the roof.
Four nights on Dartmoor last weekend, different place each night and it was super convenient to set up the bed each evening - and loads of extra room for winter coats where the zone sleeper was stored before :).
Thumbs up from us as we do like the comfort of the zone-sleep- much more convenient now, cheers Nick

We tried out the new mattress this weekend and pleased to say it is excellent. About the same thickness as the original but so much more comfortable. No need to cart the topper around anymore so more space saved. In the centre where the bellows don't lie there is about an inch between the mattress and roof so room to keep the internal Cali screens and one or two bits and pieces.

Hello Everyone,
Just a quick update for everyone who's asked.... the waterproof covers for the roof mattress are now available on our website. They come as a two piece kit for both the large and small pieces of roof mattress
They're made from our hard wearing 600 denier grey waterproof polyester material and have the Velcro attached to secure the bendy reading light.

I'll get some better pictures uploaded shortly :thumb

:thanks
Nick

Called in last week to Comfortz at Bolsover (or Bowser as it's known locally). Came away with the memory foam roof mattress which we tried last weekend at a very cold campsite in Dent.

I have to say it's very comfortable and we think a bit warmer than the standard model as well. A good purchase at a good price.

My thanks to Nick and his dad Colin for the welcome and assistance in twirling the mattresses. The spare bed is now a couple of inches taller. Well it's got to go somewhere :D

Our new mattress arrived this morning. getting away this weekend to try it out :clap

I hope it's nice an comfy for you :thumb

Let's know how you get on and thanks for the purchase!

Purchased the 2inch replacement upstairs mattress. Fair price, good quality, fast shipping !
We had a divine night sleep on them ! We used to have the original VW mattress + a memory foam topper we had to drag up and down. Well, with Nick's replacement mattress we slept even better than before and without having to drag them up and down anymore. VW should seriously consider buying them from you as their standard ! Well done and thank you for making our life more comfy !!

PS : I had my doubts that I would feel the split of the 2 pieces, but no more doubts, the split vanishes and it feels as a unique piece when in place. We fitted our Brandrup coversheets on them and it is perfectly compatible :)

gratitude from belgium

You're very welcome & thanks for the great feedback - really glad you like the mattress :thumb
