T6 VW California Delays

It's in the downloads section of the VIP Lounge. You do need to be a paid up member to access it (well worth the subscription cost!)
OK thanks.....

so, the reason for our delay was 4x4 issues now we were told we need to wait because the factory was closed for holidays. .....we had a loan cali from the dealer so far so we cannot complain. It is just amazing how long we are all willing to wait for a new car.

Just imagine you want to buy a new tv and they tell you one year is ok.

Don't Trust Anything VW tell you.

Having ordered my 204DSG 4 Motion end of January 2016 and selling my T5 Cali (as advised),i was originally quoted delivery May.
May came and went . My first scheduled holiday in the new cali for June was cancelled as no sign of cali.
Lots of chasing went on but to cut a long story short this is the latest saga.

After lots of chasing i finally had a copy of an email sent to me , originally from Gregg Chandler who is The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Supply Manager based in Milton Keynes.
His email was to the dealership supplying my vehicle who have been chasing for months.

It was dated 18th August 2016
It read
"It is completed.
I'll ask Hanover to get it out of the door asap."

I was advised of this and was extremely pleased as i could see the end of the long wait and advised i should be able to pick up 1st september with 66 reg (today).A holiday was booked for Italy for 2nd September . Happy Days!

However
Last week (friday 26th ) i chased . No response.
Tuesday (30th)this week i chased again .
Finally i was contacted and another email from Gregg Chandler was shown to me .
The email from Gregg Chandler dated 30th August read
"Apparently it is waiting for parts.Current expected completion is 2nd week september."

Lots of conversations have gone on this week but no help to me .

???????
I have been left in a position where i am on holiday as from tomorrow , 2nd September, with no Vehicle.
No loan vehicles available and so a second holiday ruined.
VW will not compensate for this .

If it was not so serious it would be laughable , but i can assure you i am not laughing. If i had not originally been quoted 3 months in January 2016 and if i had not been advised into selling the T5 california i already owned , i would not have been so angry , but this has been the most depressing saga i have had to endure. To the point , i don't care when or if it turns up now . Yes i want it , but the excitement factor has gone .The whole of this year has gone and it will sit on my drive till next year now (when and if it finally arrives) .
Do VW care . Of course not .

I will wait as i have no choice . However i warn anybody who has been quoted anything to be very careful.
The dealerships have no control and have no idea what is really going on . Either that or i am extremely unlucky .
When i see emails from The UK Commercial Vehicles Supply Manager stating that it has been built on 18th August and then another one on the 30th August stating it is still awaiting parts , then that is when i get angry.
How can a man in that position get it so wrong.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU BELIEVE

All thats needed is tell the truth, don't lie , keep us informed from the start
But thats not VW'S way of doing things

Good luck to everyone else

Feel your pain Fordsyki100.

The number of times a significant purchase is screwed up by shoddy service is truly shocking.

Not about Calis or cars - and I have had my fair share of issues with latter - here is a story not dissimilar to yours.

One of my worst memories of all time is buying a country house through Knight Frank. Lots of careless detail had been left incomplete by estate agent and vendor's solicitors causing unnecessary delays. Finally though my solicitor called and said monies had been transferred and wired. Now only keys needed to be picked up.

So with our 2 year old, we packed clothes and bedding etc snd drove down from London. We were going to have a fantastic long bank holiday weekend in the house...while we figured out what furniture to get and so on. Could one imagine a more fun bank holiday weekend in May?

After getting through bank holiday traffic we arrived at Knight Frank. Only an irate middle aged woman was present. One who was scowling at us as soon as we walked into deserted looking offices.

"Sorry cannot help you today. We are understaffed and too busy. Come back after Bank Holiday Monday!"

This was a Friday and I had a very intensive job where I worked extremely long hours 6 days a week. There was zeri chance of coming back in next few days or even a week or two for me. Plus there went the dream long weekend in new country house.

The more I explained, the more rude and obnoxious the woman became. She said she wouldn't be handing over keys because we had not paid and therefore could not complete. She wanted us to leave the stupid Knight Frank office. Finally I managed to reach my solicitor who assured us that they had had confirmation from client's solicitors that monies had been received.

With such a pleasant day on Friday spoiled, and we prepared to leave, having sat on the kerb outside Knight Frank for what seemed like hours another estate agent walked in. He seemed like he had been out drinking the whole afternoon. He heard my story, went in, came back and said he would get the keys as the fax confirming payment had actually been received in the morning but had fallen on the floor - where it had lain unnoticed by KF staff...

The woman though was still very angry and made it clear she did not want us to get the keys. I then told her that if Knight Frank kept keys to a house I now legally owned they would be foul of the law, and I could go and get the police. She said I should do that as it was her right to refuse on account of my purported rudeness. She was obstinate and looking for any excuses not to hand over keys.

Now since I had shown a lot of restraint this latest bizarre behaviour from the woman made my partner angry, but to her credit she suggested we leave they keys and go back to London. I said fine keep the keys but we shall make sure everyone knows. All the time our poor 2 year old was restless - we hadn't eaten sunce breakfast and it was now late afternoon.

Now normally everyone melted when they saw our 2 year old but not this woman.

The semi-inebriated estate agent then quickly appraised the situation as she stood hands on hips defying him. He asked me to wait. They both went into the office, and after saw discussion they both returned, she looking like a homicidal maniac, and he with a fake smike on his face. With the fake smile fixed, he handed me a bunch of keys.

As soon as he did that, she, who had studiously looked the other way, glowered at and told us to get out of KF immediately. I ignored her and asked the man if this was all. I wondered wouldn't someone show us around the property with its acres of gardens, outbuildings and so on, as I had expected, and indeed so had my partner.

No, said the man. He clarified that Knight Frank just hand over a bunch of keys on the day of completion and that was that.

I wondered then how they treated other buyers who were less comfortable in their circumstances. At this point the woman glowered and told us to get going as we had no business being at Knight Frank.

With great restraint I walked out and we got into the car. There was then a tap on the window. The man from Knight Frank was holding a bottle of champagne. Oh, he said, you should have got this in addition to they keys to the house.

I replied he could either put it in the bin, or drink it himself. I then drove off.

The whole day, a special one for us, had been spoiled due to the total non professionalism of Knight Frank.

I did email Knight Frank afterward but they were least bothered. At a time when houses weren't selling they had managed to complete a desirable property in short time with a cash buyer so doubtless felt very smart.

But here is something for you. Knight Frank have lost at least some business because I have told friends not to use them.

And contrary to them feeling smart I had bought at the bottom of the market....

So, I do understand what you feel. A Cali is a substantial purchase and VW messing clients around is realky awful.

Some of these shoddy services would make Basil Fawlty blush.

One crazy and careless person can cause needless problems downstream.

I would write to VW UK to complain, and ask them to make a gesture that is meaningful.

That's UK estate for you.....!

They will tell you anything you want without any substance. But, hey the public know exactly what they are like, no proper regulation and they get away with murder. About time they were properly regulated.

Same here ... I ordered in March and sold my Audi on the suggestion of a four month delivery. Here we are in September and I still don't have a confirmed build date. I'm going to hire a car for the next three months because the inconvenience is an issue and I've been tempted by other vehicles but what choice is there? It's frustrating but I've been pretty calm. VW Customer Services utterly hopeless. In 2016, I don't know how a firm can have no clue when its products will be delivered but I think things are better on the car side. Yesterday, I read about the collapse of Hanjin - the seventh largest container shipping firm in the world - and I wonder what that's going to do to the supply chain in the short-term. Christmas in the Cali then!

To bring us back on-topic (I have just sold my house and could write a book on the subject of incompetent solicitor and deceitful agents - and I am a solicitor! - so it is not because I do not feel your pain)
Ocean 150, manual, 4Motion, diff-lock, sensors and camera, side scan : Ordered late May. Given provisional build date of wk44. Brought forward in July to PBD of wk 39. Now just put back to PBD of wk41.
Not sure of whether that helps anyone with their position in the delivery lottery. I will post again when I get a confirmed date.

Progress - Latest news on my Week 34 build - still under construction...
The wait continues, but I think the extras shopping will be starting soon!

Im afraid confirmed build dates mean nothing . My 204dsg was Confirmed build week 32 (w/c 8th august 2016 , but it is still not finished and looking a possibility of week 37 now (but not confirmed as parts missing).

My spare room looks like the inside of a Cali ... Brandrup carpets, toilet/tray, sleeping bags, window blinds and roof thermal insulation ... maybe I should just fit them permanently to the room!

Very sad, I was under the impression that VW would only confirm build date when the virtual parts bin was full (as explained some where else on this forum) enabling them to complete the build to the date specified.

I'm with you there with with several additions. Brandrup carpets are nice aren't they.

My spare room still looks like a store room for the Cali - 6 months after taking delivery, 6000 miles and over 60 nights away - yes, most bits are in the Cali, but the room now gets used as a permanent store for camping food boxes, clothes - washed and put back in the e-bags ready to go - even when staying at home between trips, bedding, bottle holders for fridge (the bottles seem to come back empty...), etc...

Thats what i was told as well ! Unfortunately The UK Volkswagen Vehicle Supply Manager has proven this to be another incorrect piece of information (see earlier post).

Not to worry squire!

I ordered my Cali in late July. It already arrived, I went and sat in it yesterday. Picking it up tomorrow morning.

So your worries resolved. I shall open the bid for your extras at GBP 23.05.

I hate to act like a forum policeman but that's not quite right + VW Cali....

Don't get it. I was trying to elicit a laugh.

My Cali bog standard, not specced, no accessories....

Please explain what was wrong, and why are you policing such a comment...

I shall learn something - just when ai was emphatically told that Cali have no profit margin for dealer whatsoever..

X4 VWC,

Apologies for my comments. Were made to elicit a laugh...

But some super serious thought police administrators here, obvious literal minded, have literally got their knickers in a twist over my comment.

It was meant to be absurd and make you laugh. Am I the only not too serious person here!

Oh dear, oh dear!

OK. Most amusing. Thread is on Cali Delays and poster ordered in March. I happened to recall that you had purchased a Cali already ordered by the dealer so your post claiming to have ordered in July was misleading.
Have a laugh by all means but this is also a serious board trying to get answers to serious questions.

Well, I think it would be beyond Superman to deliver a late July order of a Cali in late August!

Unless, I have missed something.

Technically, you are right it is indeed some theoretical possibility that it could have happened and therefore my statement was misleading. It was not intended to be, and seems a very hard stretch to claim that it is misleading.

But hey, you are the T6 CFO, and the moderator, so I shall defer to your interpretation no matter how implausible.

Be good.

You my friend are being unnecessarily aggressive.
My post was well intentioned as much as yours was misleading.
You wish to carry on being a smart arse then do so.
As I previously stated there is no problem with humour but your post without comment could easily mislead.
I am not a moderator but you most certainly have issues.
You may now have the last word as you clearly feel the need and have the ego to require it. Goodbye

God, you are serious dude!

I already apologised to XFC 4W. Calling me a smart arse is hardly polite in my vernacular. I was blt being smart, just pointing out that in my view saying I ordered in late July and received in late August is hardly plausible. Appreciate that you consider this misleading.

Truth is you decided to get serious and interpret in a manner I still find very stretched. It is a serious forum as you say, so I stand corrected.

If you call me a smart arse, then I think it only right you should consider whether you are being too self righteous against all evidence.

It seems to me you wanted to lecture someone and having found a post will not give in....

All right fair enough. A man with CFO on title has the rights ...

Let us chill now.

Sorry if you all disagree with one another. If you still do can you maybe move it to another post so that those of us following this one are still on something close to topic...

Now I disagree with that!

(Hint, I am joking. You are quite right too. Apologies again...)
