What is the protocol for number plates on a new California? Does the dealer usually give a selection to choose from and if so, when does this happen? Hoping for CH17 LED and maybe avoid FA17URE! Also, after an order is placed, when is an accurate delivery date known? Never bought new before, v.excited.

You could bye one. D v l a release new plates to buy 6momths before the new registration comes out . Have a look at cheap plates . Com

Unless you buy your own the dealer puts whatever dvla issue. You do not get a choice.

Last time I bought a new car I had a choice of four registration plates. I guess it depends on the dealer. If you are not buying a personal one (registration) then I suggest you talk to your dealer about options. Don't forget a std plate will be included in the OTR price. If you look at buying a plate it is surprising what you can pick up. I had a very nice surprise from a friend who bought me this number a week ago T600VWC. They said it was "cheap"! I had a quick look on the DVLA site and found T600VWT for £250......so take a look/explore your options. After all if you are buying new a few extra pounds on a special plate is a small price to pay for a bit more personalisation.

By the way, what have you ordered?

The only guarantee of getting a plate you like is to buy one yourself..

there are a few VWC plates still on dvla.. you can search for 17 plates as well.

VW 17 VWC might be available in november ;)

What @Loz said is true.
There are lots of selections still with DVLA, there's lot of T6 plates for £250:
T6 OCE, T6 TXJ (nearly went for this after seeing chap on here with his and her initials), I settled for something that matches our names. If the California turns out to be a mistake I can add this to what ever I get and it still has some meaning.

Dealers do have a list of registrations that are available to them, the list is longer in August/September. In 2010 I bought a Volvo XC60 from York, I was given the choice of quite a few. I remember there was YX60 VVO, I took YX6O XTJ we later saw the VVO in Reeth, NorthYorkshire, same colour as ours. So I've had a free "personal" plate for 6 years. I was planning on keeping it gut decided otherwise. You can get lucky, I think is the gist of this waffle.

I don't think T6 OCE will be there long now you've pointed it out!

VW17OCE and VW17BEA are available for sale in November........who will get there first??

I've never understood this number plate thing. :(

I've never understood this number plate thing. :(
I regard it as just another option. No more, no less. (And I could hardly turn mine down as it was a gift!!)

September 2019 - What are the best options to avoid embarrassment?
You got the better of me I think! You can use a 17 plate on a 2019 vehicle, but to get either of these (above) you will probably have to try and buy them very early next month. If you want a 19 plate you will have to wait to buy them until early November 2018. Don't forget some numbers go to auction and this is likely it might be best if you speak to an agent.

Do you mean disappointment?

Hope this is of help or did I just misunderstand your question?:(

:D Might be better to avoid. Best way? Buy a dateless private plate.

I was looking for

BE11 UGA

As I have a big white Cali but unfortunately it was gone.

BO11 CKS

Did you also see that VW have the following...

VW51 EEP

?

I've never understood this number plate thing. :(
My T4WFA is the first plate I've ever owned. I must have nearly bought it 10 times before finally pressing the button after a few wines. The main advantage is how easy it is to remember (as every campsite asks for the reg plate) but I'm sure it's added the £180 cost to the value of my Westy.
I can remember by first car's reg plate (Mk1 Escort 1300 GT = OKV420M) but not my current one.

Sometimes you might be offerred a choice of the list the dealer has.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll take a look on DVLA come November.

I have gone for a 150PS DSG Beach Chestnut brown. The wait is pretty painful. How long before delivery should I expect a firm delivery date?

All questions I should be asking dealer but people on here a
