Awning Brackets

Chaps,

The standard black F45S awning as fitted to the T5, how many mounting brackets to the body? 2 or 3?

2 for Cali, but I always think it should be 3 as the awning does bow with only 2

If you are fitting it to a van you will need the roof prep kit and 2 brackets if fitting to a cali just 2 brackets

Well it going on a T4 Cali. My previous T4 Cali awning has three brackets. Two of the same type and one unique.

I can only seem to find a pair on the Fiama web site, no sign of the third type.

I was interested to see how the T5 is fixed.
I may need to buy and extra and modify it.

Havw you got the Brandrup rail above the sliding door? If you do Fiamma do a two bracket kit for the F45S for this. No drilling the bodywork. If you don't they do a two bracket kit for the T4 with a pop-top roof. This one involves drilling and putting captive nuts into the roof.

Yes I've seen the twin bracket kit but the correct Westy install off shows three brackets (as fitted to my previous van) Two are identical (rear and mid) and the fwd one is unique as it's mounted on the B pillar.

It's the b pillar bracket I can't find. I'll have to mod an extra one of the rear pair.

Looks like another example of the Westfalia over engineering we know and love. Have you tried VW? I'm also assuming you don't have the Brandrup rail on your Freestyle. The kit to mount the F45 is different again. Ours is mounted to that, has been for a couple of years now and everything still works as expected.

Our rail was already fitted. Have read about it since but it uses a combination of Sikaflex and a number of screw along it's length. It's a good addition as it doubles as a gutter so rain doesn't drip in the doorway.
