Lowering springs

Does anyone have a part number for the Eibach lowering springs that are used by VW (30mm) for California (non DSG, non 4motion).

Also if these get fitted locally (non VW) will it invalidate the warranty?

Anyone know? :)

Ace, that fitting seems pretty expensive, but that's VW I guess :)

Does anyone know if the Cali springs are from the T30 or T32 transporter springs (load wise) ? Looking at fitting H&R 40mm lowering springs and need to know for the rear setup. Thanks.

Hi, my understanding is the -30mm spring spec used by VW for Calis is rated for front axle loads up to 1710kg. It's the higher of the two options that VW lists for the Transporter range.

I think they are from the T30. There will be a plate in the engine bay that has the axel limits for your vehicle, add the 2 axels together to see if you get to 3 or 3.2 tonnes.
I had the H&Rs fitted to my Beach and went for the heavier duty springs on the rear and lighter option on the front. Front dropped the 40 mm and rear about 25.

Thanks Guys, Owen are you pleased with the H&R springs?

Overall yes I am happy. There is noticeably less body role in sweeping corners and at roundabouts so the vehicle seems more planted on the road. With the std springs I always felt the rear was sitting lower than the front, hence one of the reasons for going for the heavier duty option on the rear. Ride quality is still fine, a little harder perhaps. Sharp edge impacts from potholes and steep speed ramps are more noticeable than before.
One issue that I did have after having them fitted was a noticeable creaking from the front when applying lock to the steering. Went back a couple of times to get it sorted and it eventually cleared after re-lubricating he top mounts and 500+ miles. Seems to be down to the rubber top mounts needing to re-bed to the slightly adjusted geometry.

Sounds like the VW lowering springs are the way to go with a new van , does anyone know the part number of the springs ? That is the ones for a T6 4 motion, as I would prefer to order from TPS and fit them myself

ZGB7H0071677A is the higher-rated of the two options in the VW published accessory list and the only one that is greater than the Ocean front axle weight limit. I would speak to a VW parts dept before buying any to check that they are definitely the springs VW recommend for your specific T6 4 motion model :thumb.

Thanks for that Skinnee D , will quote that part number to VW parts dept . Not had much luck with them , when asking for part numbers , and not making a purchase! But have found they are much more expensive for the same item . For example I ordered head lamp covers , charged £50 . After one broke,I ordered from TPS £ 35 :thanks

Not sure if VW will do them for T6 4Motion as I tried to order that with the Cali and was told it's not available on the 4motion nor recommended. I'm watching on here for any new info as well.

After talking to VW over the last few days , and quoting the part number, turns out those springs are no use on a 4 motion. Alegidly , a 4 motion is fitted with the heavy duty t32 springs , mine has the heavy duty anti roll bar . And there is no option for a lowering kit or stiffer suspension! Awaiting a call. Back on any other options from the factory. Won't hold my breath .:help

Hi Swizzle. I have had my 4 motion T6 lowered by the dealer and the result, together with the Heavy Duty Anti roll bars I ordered from the factory is brilliant.
The dealer said that of the two types of lowering springs the part number ZGB7H0071677A was heavier rated and the proper one for the axle load of the 4WD...which is what he fitted, and I kept the original springs in case a future purchaser wants to revert to them.
The handling is excellent.

Did you have it done from new or after being unhappy with it.?

Mike

Had mine done yesterday at eurovans crawley.Much tighter ride love it.No one mentioned informing the insurance company yet i phoned mine they changed the details no extra insurance premium but check with yours first

My dealer in Edinburgh has told me there are no factory lowering springs available for a 4 motion ! They checked through VW factory, but still came back with no upgrade . I have fitted bilstine B8 rear shocks already have heavy duty anti roll bars, have been an improvement but still working on it. My main concern is the handling and cornering ability.
