Trip to Northumberland with renters

Visiting Northumberland with friends who are renting a campervan. He is a bit of a bar fly and she has recently had back surgery, they will be accompanied by 2 elderly dogs! Our usual plan is to follow the weather but on this occasion we need to be a bit organised. We are joining them just outside Liverpool to start the 5 day trip. Any recommendations would be gratefully received, basically looking for sites within easy walking distance of a village or pub.

We hired a Cali before buying from VW Benfields at Newcastle. Visited Northumberland and stayed at Beadnell Bay C&CC site. Couple of nice foodie pubs within walking distance (Craster Arms), lots to do and see around there. Boat trips, castles, kippers, Alnwick, Banburgh, Dunstanburgh etc etc

Still waiting for my Cali so haven't camped in Northumberland yet but have had lots of holidays there recently.

There's another C&CC site at Dunstan Hill which is high up our list of places to take our Cali. It is close to the village of Embleton (3-4 pubs), the beach (Embleton bay) which is one of our favourites and Dunstanburgh castle (stunning location).

Also close to the other attractions mentioned by Larrylamb which are just a short drive away.

We're just back from Beadnell Bay C&CC site. I think it meets your requirements. Usual clean and tidiness of C&CC sites. Literally just across the road (a bit noisy if you get a pitch near to it) from a great beach for dog walking. It was extremely windy - we'll return to the area, but will check the weather forecast for wind before setting off!

The small community run site in Kielder Village is near the village pub & (I imagine) excellent for dogs - whole area v. quiet & remote.

We've passed this one several times, but I've read reviews somewhere about the local youth hot hatch community cruising along the coast road in the early hours. Wonder if that is still an issue in the summer?

Sorry couldn't say TJ - we've been a couple of times but not in summer. There is some traffic noise but it's not too bad. Because that site was booked up after we'd been there for three nights and we like the area for the beaches(keen dog walkers!), we actually moved to another site on the other side of Beadnell village which was, as it turned out, more to our taste - lots of statics, but a small number of pitches (c5) for tourers right in the dunes, separate from the statics. Just 2 mins through the dunes to a gorgeous beach - no traffic! The shower block is basic - and the dish washing facilities are in the ladies shower block! - how terrible is that . £20/night. The details will come up if you Google beadnell camping. Oh and it's a bit further to walk into the village.

Votes for two sites up in Berwick. Ord House is a very large private site but has good facilities. If you can get a spot in the Orchard, that's very quiet from our experience (though haven't used the site at all in school holiday time). The dog walk runs all round the perimeter of the site. The C and MC site in Spittal (just over the river from Berwick) is great as well - small with a walk down to the beach and about half an hour's gentle walk to the town - good pubs in town.

Further south there is Seafields in Seahouses. It has a few hardstanding touring pitches, and is in the town itself. I think this a bit on the expensive side but you do get free use of their fab swimming pool and other leisure facilities (and the showers, etc, are lovely too). We stay here as a treat in winter BTW.

Thank you for the recommendations for Northumberland. Tips for similar sites on route from Liverpool to Northumberland would also be gratefully received. I'm pretty useless as the delegated trip organiser, your advice is really helpful and makes me appear quite knowledgable.
