Cali now sold
Called in on spec Friday afternoon, they replaced the missing high level brake light and reset the service indicator while we waited. All done by the time we had a free coffee :thumb

Goodness,

I never knew that you could pop in to just have the service indicator reset.

I normally have to have a service as well. This could save me thousands ....:shocked

Well I've had my 2014 T5 SE California for coming up 3 months now and in that time I've been very impressed with the above outfit that sold me the van. VW Llandudno is one of those state of the art marble and glass buildings situated on a site which it shares with similar franchises for several other car dealers. It's only around 15 miles along the coast from me and a free (bus pass) bus ride so it's very convenient too. When I first walked in I expected a hard sell but instead I got the friendly relaxed treatment with facts and all questions answered. They even at that first speculative visit spent half an hour searching on the computer to try and justify offering me an acceptable part ex deal on my ancient Mazdo Bongo which unsurprisingly didn't happen in the end. But following a decent private deal on the Bongo I went back for a second look and duly upgraded my campervan experience.

It's the attitudes following purchase that's been most impressive. During handover the sliding window over the sink was sticking and a technician came and checked it out. It remained awkward however and I took it back, when they decided they would replace the whole window. While there I asked about the battery indication above the windscreen which seemed to drop rather rapidly to 70% after a run; they got a technician to check there and then and showed me a print out which indicated the front LB was good but the rear one was marginal. Without me saying anything (used batteries under warranty?) I was told they would fit a new one and charge it when I took the van in overnight for the window fitting. When I picked it up I was told the window was fine but the technician had scratched the panel below so they'd ordered a new one for fitting later; apparently the window replacement is a 'bit of a job' and no-one there had done one before.... When I saw the scratch I'm convinced I'd never have noticed it had they not told me.

Then at Easter my eagle-eyed son noticed water droplets in the nearside side indicator which I eventually got round to emailing about. They asked me to send a photo and then immediately agreed it wasn't acceptable and ordered a new one. When I phoned to say when I'd call by Anthea in service (first name terms by now..) actually asked me if there was anything else I could think of that they could sort while they were doing the indicator - talk about keen! Actually Anthea is particularly fond of our dog and always requests I bring him along; in fact the whole place seems full of dog lovers which can make visits interesting at times. When you're handing over this sort of money you have the right to expect good efficient treatment but here they manage to combine this with the friendly and personal approach which makes for an enjoyable experience all round. Happy customer.....

Thank you for this. It's great when we hear nice things instead of all the grumbles.:thumb

Bought my Cali there too, I travelled from Poole Dorset and they picked me up from the station. I too was impressed with their attitude and knowledge.

To create a thread to merge historic threads into.

Thanks. I don’t pretend to understand what that means, but as long as there’s a good reason. It’s just a bit tedious having to click through a million new posts. :thumb

A once in a not very often occurrence.

The section was a bit of a mess with a lot of relevant reviews hidden way down in the morass with a lot of deleted and irrelevant threads above them so not only did I retitle all relevant threads by location, merge together all the dozens of different threads by dealer, but also posted a message in them to lift them to the top of the pile and above the dross.

Of course, only a cynic would say that it’s a regular thing done to get publicity for the named dealers; do we have any of those on here? ;)

Even the most challenged of cynics would struggle to arrive at that.. All the threads merged previously existed and many of the comments merged are quite derogatory. It would indeed be a very strange conclusion to arrive at.

I spent quite a lot of time tidying up a section that had become a bit of a mess. The only motive was to make the section clearer for all to use and post to.

Thanks for the edit. Yeah, I saw you were burning the midnight oil doing it. The only bit I don’t get is ‘but also posted a message in them to lift them to the top of the pile’

Anyway, job done. Thanks again

Original Review From @Robyn

The process of ordering and subsequently collecting the our Cali Ocean was straightforward. The dealership was recommended to us by a friend, Craig the sales rep took his time to show us a showroom Cali, test drive and options. No pressure on us and he told us to think about it before committing. Yes we had to wait eight months before seeing her in the flesh but Craig was honest with us about the waiting list so we were not that fussed. He did keep us informed of progress. He took his time to hand ourCali over to us and was patient with our queries. So far so good, not had any issues since we picked her up in March and done plenty of exploring since then; we intend taking her to North Wales Van Centre for servicing which I hope will be as good as the sales service. Based on our experiences I would recommend Craig and NW VW to anyone looking for a Cali.
