Cali, Tdi 2008. Electric Fans continually running when ignition on...error code 02251.
The electric fans are running continually even cold after van left for 3 days. previous threads talked about sensors and connections in the bumper. No work has been done and the only error code not clearing is 02251 in AUX HEAT, "Heater Unit Locked"
The Aux heater is working fine?
What has failed and what do I need to do to stop the fans running? Any ideas.

Had front grill off and located small sensor slightly to RHS behind grill. removed and WD40 etc its the temp sensor to show OAT on dash, this is serviceable.
Can't see any other sensors, access is very limited. from links above I can see silver temperature control Module on nearside lower panel and associated cable looms.
One of the links (http://danirangelov.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/vw-transporter-t5-cooling-fan-is-always.html talks about the wiring harness attached to the TCM so I'm assuming it was a broken cable or corrosion. ill investigate further tomorrow.
No error codes at all so hoping that it's not the engine block/temp sensors that require removal of the front of the vehicle!
any more advice will be welcomed.
Paul.

& 6 speed manual.
thank you for link to the detailed parts. great.

Fixed by main dealer. Apparently 2 Air Con sensors and corrosion on terminals on some connectors. Very good service and attention to detail from Wrexham van centre.

I have identical problem on identical van. May I ask what the dealer charged? Thanks.

From the bill, I had a normal oil service 80,000 done at same time. the cost of the fan repair detailed below;

replace air con pressure sensor:
1 sensor at £75.21
3 x connector £4.00 each
pressens x 1at £55.97
connector x 3 at £4 each
so around £170.....all in.

Thanks. Good result. I had the sensors changed by local garage but it had no effect. Maybe they cocked up....
