Has anyone fitted a Brandrup Isotop 1V?

Will do, looking forward to it!

A plea for help to combat the terrible Brandrup instructions!! I'm half way through fitting the Isotop to our Ocean and about to do battle with the velcro tabs in the front. One thing that isn't clear from the instructions, or anyone else's descriptions that I could find, is which way round the 'hook' end should go when you squeeze it into the roof lining? ie. should the hooks be facing towards the outside of the van or the inside? Any help gratefully received :help

Thanks

Mine is not a Brandrup, it's a Comfortz, and the tabs go towards the back. Should imagine yours are the same.

Ah great thanks I have the spatulas at the ready ... so that's the afternoon sorted!

Still unsure about the three tabs are they fitted so that the hook bits are facing you looking forwards and hanging down?

They are on the Comfortz, hopefully someone with a Brandrup will read this!

I fitted mine last night In the way Motacyclist suggested.... with the spikey 'hook' side of the Velcro facing toward the bed ... so when you're facing the front of the van then the spikes are facing backwards. Blooming tricky to get in though... ended up using a combination of plastic and wooden spatulas and thumbs!

Great thread, especially @Borris for the write up, really helped fitting mine today. Only thing I did differently was use a bradawl to start the screws which certainly helped. Had a last minute dash to Homebase as I’d somehow missed the fact they were Torx screws too (T15 for reference). Anyhow thanks to you all.

Mine has just been delivered from the club shop.

I have just looked at the instructions in the bag for the IsoTop, it says “ISOTOP Mark IV is specifically designed for the manually operated aluminium pop up roof of the VW T6/T5 California and therefore only fits those vehicles

The listing on the site shop however states “ISO-TOP Mark IV for the electrohydraulic operated aluminum pop-up top of the VW T5 & T6 California Ocean and SE”

Has there been an error in deliver or are they in fact both the same? I've tried to contact the shop but I'd guess they're on vacation. Ideally I'd like to fit it this week before our New Years jaunt
Thanks

The item you have is for a beach manual roof you need part no 100 701 063 I’m sure the shop will swap it for the correct one

...... I don't suppose you have any idea when they re-open?

The telephone just rings out

There will be staff there on Thursday

..... alas, it just rings out. No joy with webchat either

I guess you will be itching to get it fitted but you really need the weather to be a bit warmer for the Velcro to adhere properly. I’m sure the shop will have a new one with you before then.

Yes, that might work but I got mine in November at the Bolsover open day, and even though the air in the van heated up ok the metal parts around the roof that the Velcro sticks to were cold and were prone to misting. So I decided to save the Velcro that came with the liner and use some I already had from the old Comfortz liner. I will replace it when the weather gets warmer, or if it is still stuck ok I might just leave it and keep the original in reserve.

Once I get the correct one, worst case scenario as I see it is the need to get some more velcro if this fails to set?

Next stop, to exchange mine.

I'd take a drive to the shop if I knew they'd be open tomorrow but a 6hr round trip to look at a closed shop front aint my idea of a fun filled day ;)

Sorry I thought they were there today I have spoken to the shop today and there will be staff in tomorrow for sure if you are thinking of visiting can you please make it am. They will swap it for you no problem

It’s 3rs away with a clear road. Doubtful I’ll get there before midday to be honest. More like 1300

Hi Charles,
My above mentioned instructions were for fitment to a Beach. The Isotop lV for your Ocean is slightly different to that of the Beach. The Ocean version doesn't require screws. Instead there are three large black velcro tabs that have a sort of hinge to divide each of them into two halves. You have to force these three tabs between the joint in the front of the roof (see instructions for exact details). They are a tight fit. The Isotop attaches to the exposed section of these tabs that dangle down.
I used two of the new £10 notes to help slide the tabs in, this worked a treat!! Obviously, for those less well off, £5 notes should work just as well!!
