Has anyone used an upright Webasto fridge, or similar type upright? A search of the forums seems like not! I'm considering one as an option for the Beach, maybe in a simple cabinet. It would also stand nicely next to an Ikea Alex, dimension wise...

Webasto CR EL 85

I know the popular ones here seem to be the Waecos or Engles, but I keep leaning back to the upright format when I'm searching. Maybe it's nostalgia for the Westy... Am I mad?

Am I mad?
In a word, yes. lol.

The beauty of the top loading fridge is that the cool air stays inside when opened
and you can open it quite often without the temp dropping too much.
On my westy, when i open the fridge the carpet gets nicely cooled as the cold air
slides out of the bottom meaning the fridge is working overtime.

I agree those look much better but I also agree with Westfalia, the top loaders are generally more efficient because the cold air falls.

Trade off between looks and efficiency, only you can decide which suits you better.

A very good point. Efficiency surely won't be as good as a chest fridge, but I wonder how much harder it would actually be on the leisure battery. If no one else is using one, I'm temped to try just I can report back!

Interestingly they list the current/amps per hour for the top loaders but not the uprights..

According to the website however the CRX50 only uses 40w which suggests it's more efficient however I am suspicious of the fact they dont publish current..
