T6 changes starting 8/2018

Are those pics showing the new fruity looking grill for real? Surely not??

I'm sure some folks will like it but personally I don't like it at all; to me it makes the front look somewhat dated and "fussy"; would VW really make such a whacky change to the looks of the car while still taking orders that are based on the overall look of the MY18 T6?

I suspect most folks who have recently ordered a new Cali would be buying based on the looks of the MY18 and therefore only anticipate a few minor deviations in terms of engine refinements or other minor interior improvements (or other less visible tweaks to the mechanical aspects of the car); this type of cosmetic change is something customers NEED to know about before they order and so VW would (or rather should) be letting new customers know about the different looks either by way of a new brochure or at the very least letting dealers have access to some pics of the new styling so that they could show them to prospective buyers BEFORE they place an order.

Unless there are further "major" improvements to this "ugly" looking front-end then when mine arrives if it looks like that then I'll be pretty annoyed to be honest.

I doubt any orders in now will get this front end change.

Official images will be released and a date set for the changes to start. Probably early 2019.

The front end vents seem to follow the current VW design trend to have a lower central drop grille similar to the Arteon and T-Roc.

I would be very surprised if VW would make such significant changes on the currant T6. Much more likely to be for the next T7. I can't see them travelling around with a full technical trailer unless there are some significant drive train or other changes under the body.

Was considering ordering a new T6 for next year, will definitely wait now to see what changes are coming.

Did you forget the change from T5 to T5.1?

Presumably it will come with interior refinements that will make it worth having given if you find the front ugly?

Were there many interior changes between T5 to T5.1?

The camping interior has hardly changed since 2006.

The T.5 to T5.1 was a dashboard and front end refresh and new engines.

T5.1 to T6 was a front end / back end refresh and apparently suspension too. Again a new set of engines and the dashboard got an upgrade.

I agree, this kind of cosmetic change would perhaps warrant a T6.1 but if this is the case, VW should NOT be taking orders now based on a T6 that will ultimately ship as a T6.1 unless customers are informed of this change prior to placing an order.

When they moved from a T5 to a T5.1, I personally thought the new front-end was a huge improvement; it made the T5 look much more modern and sleek (in my opinion) whereas these pics of the "supposed" revised T6 are a backward step (again in my opinion).

Whether it is a T6.1 or T7 it will be accompanied by a new Brochure, Price rise and most additions will become paid for Options rather than included in the base price, going on past performance.
I would expect this to happen for MY20 or MY21.

MY19 will include Options that will be included in the Base price and a price rise, maybe changes to the engine map to meet environmental concerns but nothing major, no new engines etc:.

The engine map changes will happen for sure, the Euro 6D temp "standard" will be a requirement from September 2018 onwards :

An interesting thread. Given the photo that has been shared from a German site ... are any of you able to get UK dealer validation on this? Agree it looks ugly as ... though I still can’t believe they would stuff up the front that much. Often these types of snaps do not necessarily mean the finished product (he says hopefully) However, given the MY19 spec will be in production in the next month or so .... the dealers must know what will be delivered. I have not had much luck asking here in NZ. Thanks

The only thing we can guarantee is that there will be in increase in price. All other guesses are just that as VW dont tell us anything. Doubt there will be much changes until new engines are introduced.

I asked a contact in VW Germany "when the California will be available with a Euro 6D-temp compliant diesel engine?" his answer :

"approx. from calendar week 37 on (Euro 6D-Temp-EVAP)"

So not a new engine, but I guess rather a remap and maybe some additional filters?

To these people looking for compensation on their orders. WHY press the compensation button ??? . All you need to do is ring your dealer to make sure you are getting the correct engine and if 6bhp means that much too you cancel your order. As to also for compensation, what on earth is the world turning too.F

Personally, if I loose 6bhp by the time my Cali arrives then this doesn't bother me in the least; if we have to loose a little power to make the Cali engine run "cleaner" and meet the new emissions regulations then no problem but the "supposed" changes to the front-end do bother me; my decision to buy was (in part) based on what the T6 looked like in the showroom on the day I ordered and so I will most certainly be bothered if it arrives looking like those pics shown earlier in this thread.

I've asked my dealer if he knows what the story is and so I'll update this thread once he gets back to me.
