Paint and bird lime

Hello. I’m new to this forum and was hoping to post about my adventures. However my first is about the paint on my new Acapulco blue Beach as we had some bird lime on the bonnet and top above windscreen that has dulled the shine on our lovely new (2 weeks old) Cali. I washed the lime off after it had been on there less than an hour and then washed and polished but no luck. Does anyone know if a good detailer can help polish the paint back?

I will try and get some photos but it’s hard to get it in the right light.

If you park under a cherry tree like I do, this time of year is a nightmare of regular checks.

You might consider having some paint protection film added to your bonnet.

Really surprised it had any effect in such a short time - what polish did you use? It would only be in the clearcoat and usually very easy to polish out with a traditional liquid polish.

Hi. Thanks for the replies. I used some cheap carplan regular polish as that’s the only thing I could find where I am in Cornwall at the moment. I’m frustrated I hadn’t given it any polish or wax before it happened - but I didn’t!

I usually use 'T' Cut carefully & then use a 2 stage resin polish.

The Cali paint is pretty thin and and doesn't have much to polish out bird dropping problems or idiot car park door basher scrapes.

Hi. I spoke to Matt at Systemclenz in Weston Super Mare and he has told me to leave it alone as it can possibly ‘self heal’ as it heats and cools. As has been said before on here he was very knowledgeable. Fingers crossed.
