I’m interested to know what rear facing car seats everyone uses in their Cali? We have a T5 SE and a 2 & 4 year old and I like to extended rear face to 6 years old / 25kg. We use a Britax 2 way elite and an Axkid Mini Kid in the car but the teethers make this impractical in the Cali. Does anyone else manage to extend rear face? Thanks :)

Hi! Sorry can’t answer your question but I’m on here trying to find the same answer! Did you find a way? Are there tethers in the t5 do you know?

I’m afraid I didn’t. I’ve had to go with forward facing :( yes, there are tethers behind the rear seat. If you find a way please let me know!

Oh where abouts are the tethers? My husband couldn’t find them! Are they low down and attached to the seat? Is yours a t5?

Yes T5. They are really low down. I’ll have a look in the morning and refresh my memory and let you know. When I test drove my van my daughter was in a rear facing maxi cosi axis which has a tether so it definitely has one! I also found the ISO fix anchors are at an angle which put the car seat at a tilt, very annoying.

Ah thank you very much! We have the problem that my daughter is already at 18kg so can’t go in her current rear Joie seat as it has to go forward at 18kg, but also at 18kg you have to take off the harness and use the seat belt and she’s way too young for that, but the harness seats that go up to 25kg have to be tethered. It’s a nightmare!

I’ve found an extended rear facing car seat that fits in our Cali so thought I’d let you know! It has to be tethered to the front driver seat to you need to travel with the bench seat as far forwards as possible but it works it’s an axikid minikid. We had it fitted by the in car safety place in Milton Keynes.

Just realised you have the axikid in your car. It will work in the Cali

Thanks for that! I’m so pleased you found a way for one. I think this would remove one of the major perks of the van for me as we use the space in the middle too much in our everyday life. Definitely food for thought for a longer journey though or when I only have one child. Thank you x

Yeah I know what you mean about it taking up the space. It’s very easy to untether though as you leave the tether points in place and just clip into it so can easily move the bench back when not driving. It was our only option as nearly 18kg and only 2 years old so definitely not ready to forward face with a seatbelt. I’m just glad there is a option as we’ve booked our France holiday and had visions of not going! It was the only option though for extended rearward facing, they tried everything possible to find another way!

Hi Becky, I could be wrong but from the picture you have posted it looks as if the black release lever for the bench seat is sticking out. It should return to its vertical position to lock the seat securely in the runners. Sometime you need to wiggle the bench seat a bit to get it to click back in. Apologies if the black bit is just a strap or something else sticking out.

Thank you! Yes I see what you mean. A very useful thing to know
