Does anyone have a heated front screen? Is it good? Mine is either terrible or broken!

Thanks,

David

We've got one. I've only used it 3 times but it's worked very well clearing the frost away quickly. I'd definitely get it as an option again.

What's wrong with yours?

Thanks for this - I've tried it twice and it hasn't really cleared much at all if anything. The fans work much faster and so I'll get in touch with the dealer again.

Ours works great - i didnt realise until I saw another post here though that really only works for frost / snow and no use for demist internally which I suppose makes sense when you consider which way the heat goes... Maybe your expectation is that it should do both, which case, I agree the blower is much better..

Hope it helps...

If your screen is frozen it takes a while for the parking heater to defrost it.
I had one of those heated screens in a Ford 25 years ago and they are good for both aiding defrosting and demisting.

True, but only if you are in a hurry. With the parking heater you get a warm vehicle as well. Mind you, no need of anything here in Barcelona. :)

Air conditioning? ;)

My expectation was that it would clear mist inside too, but mine doesn’t seem to have any effect; makes me wonder if it’s actually working. Not had opportunity to try it on frost yet.

I've only used mine once.

On the advice of a Honda dealer in Edinburgh years ago I use heat & air con to clear mist.

I had one in a caddy I was lent by vw. I’m surprised at how visible the wires (still) are, although I suppose you get used to it.

Yes the wires are visible, especially in sunlight, although not too distracting. Wouldn’t be an option I would have ticked had specced it up though! Might change my mind it if clears ice off the windscreen ....

I had a California on loan whilst mine was delayed. The loaner had the front heated screen. I found the wires too noticeable and a proper hindrance for night time driving as it starburst the oncoming headlights. Was really glad I didn't spec it on my own Cali!

I have no Cali specific experience, but VAG; We have heated screen on our Tiguan and I stupidly thought when I pressed the button (showing wavy lines and a windscreen) that that would be the heated screen. I was wrong, you have to go into the aircon menu and then can turn on the heated screen, maybe the same in Cali?

Well, this winter a heated screen has been about as useful as a set of winter tyres where we live. Only had one frost and I was fortunate enough to somehow hit the right button and the screen cleared in seconds. Unfortunately I can’t remember which one it was but there are two with wavy lines and it was one of them, it wasn’t in the air con menu! :D
