I am sure you are all aware about these but I got mine today from the Post Office, very easy to do and cost £5.50, you need one for each country you travel through. I know this is only for no deal but we are travelling on the 28th March so did not want to take any risks

covered in other posts, hope your not travelling with Brittany ferries as they have rescheduled a lot of their sailings.

Going on the 28th March is a risk. You are sensible to have your contingencies in place!

It will be like driving into an active volcano. You know its going to kick off but you never know when. Anyway it was only a fiver.i had one to ride a moped drunk in Thailand. I was allowed to be drunk. But I wasn't allowed to not have a license. Anyway I voted out.

Not quit one for each country. There are 3 varieties, 1926, 1949 or 1968. You need the correct ones for the countries you visit.

Hello I’ve just got a 1949 IDP, and they’ve only stamped A and B categories although my UK licence covers C1 D1 C1E D1E
Can you tell me if the post office should have stamped against category C and D as well?

On my 1949 IDP ALL categories are stamped except for A which is for Motorcycles. I don't have a Motorcycle Licence.
Likewise on my 1968 IDP all the correct categories are stamped.

The IDP categories and the UK driving license categories don’t exactly match up. —- was looking at the documentation in the post office today

Message from a Post Office adviser -- Double check that the issuing office has supplied the IDP that you have asked for and that it is correctly filled out in relation to your existing UK license etc.

4 varieties now, I think, 1969 as well!,

According to this Government Website there are only 3. All the countries you mention are 1968.

1926 permit is for Liechenstein, Somalia and Mexico

China doesn’t accept IDPs - you need a temporary Chinese License

And there isn’t a 1969 permit- it’s 1968

Importantly for this forum, the 1949 permit is required in the following European countries: Spain, Malta, Cyprus and Iceland

1949 permit valid only one year
1968 permit valid 3 years
