New T6.1 order delays

Ordered a 150 DSG Ocean from LVC 1st March 2021 in Copper Bronze/ Candy White. After seeing a Leaf Green/ Candy White Caravelle (with chrome pack) down in Cornwall, and comparing to the Copper/White Ocean we managed to hire - we really took to the green colour. So, we asked if a change of colour ‘was still possible?’. Bad news and good news… “bad news” our van is not due to be in production till December / delivery Jan., to confirm in a few weeks time. ”Good news” Yes you can change colour. Every cloud has a silver lining ?

Do you know which wheels these are?

On the van in the pic?

18" Teresina, currently an option on the UK configurator.

Nice to see that picture as my Ocean on order is bay leaf green with the chrome pack and same wheels. Looks good!
Side bars are tidy too...

Unbelievable. Now being told delivery not expected until March 2022. Ordered Nov 2020. Nothing can be done according to the dealer to speed things up. If it does show in March that will be a 16 month wait. Now I'm really convinced RHD Cali builds are taking presidence over LHD. Not the end of the world but I REALLY hope VW keep this new extended delivery schedule.
Mine is close to 13 months now, but en route to Crawley dealer as I type (I'm told). I haven't heard of a RHD taking longer, so perhaps your theory is correct. It does happen though...in the end you get an email like this!4BEB29F6-DE1B-46FD-BAC8-B40B11E6A6DC.png

Have you been told your VIN?
I always suspect foul play when I hear of some orders taking close to twice as long as others. Have they really got space in the factory to store all these “half built” vans waiting for parts for months on end?
As I said a few pages back, wouldn’t be surprised if chassis get diverted back to VW Commercial to satisfy fleet orders or whatever. With a VIN you’d be a bit more confident of that not being the case.

My dealer told me you don’t get one until your Cali leaves the factory. Others say you can get one when it starts production, but I haven’t heard of earlier, and definitely not when you only have a provisional build week.

The dealer doesn't get it until then, but the buyer should be able to find it on the myvolkswagen garage space when production starts.

I idly wondered if Marco Polo buyers were seeing the same lead times so had a look on their forum and 12m+ seems to be the norm there with some dealers quoting 18m from the off.

Incidentally that forum gave me deja vu: stuck beds, leaking roofs, equivalent Beach vs Ocean arguments.. although with a fraction of the membership of this place.

My favourite quote was one chap who said something like “I love telling VW owners that my MP was cheaper, whenever I get the chance. Should see their faces”. Life and soul of the party, that one… *backs slowly out of room*

Yes, but is it better? Its cheaper for a reason, right?!

I wanted to look at a Marco Polo before I ordered my Ocean - my last two cars have both been Mercs and, despite having owned a VW in the past, felt like I had more affinity with the brand.

Didn't even bother returning my phone calls.

Looking at the brochures, I'd struggle to see how they would be cheaper a similar specced vehicle tbh.

As someone said on a YT review, the MP looks like a posh hairdressers inside.

When I played with the configurations the MP was a smidge cheaper than the Ocean for damn near the same spec. Transit was dearer than both.

But the MP has that leather electric bed which belongs in an 80s mucky film, I just couldn’t!

I finally got good news, my Coast has made it to Ireland (ordered in Dec'20)!! Still at the port, waiting to be released from customs but my dealer has offered me the option to collect it on the first week of January so it has a '22 registration while keeping the 2020 price. Considering I'll likely get it by mid November and that I'll be spending half of December in Spain I think waiting until Jan 2nd is my best option. Has never be closer, getting excited again!

Zorionak Izaskun a ze ona berriak
See you on the Basque coast sometime

Aren’t Palmerston alloys diamond cut?!
Oh bother - I think you could be right. The Configurator description is a bit misleading, but in the close up photo they do look diamond turned. Even though I prefer the look on the 18” wheels, we just might be going back to the standard Aracaju 17” alloys on the UK Configurator. All this time to change minds is a true gift from VW ;-)

Or get the sports pack with 18” black Springfields...

Prices in Switzerland just took a leap, possibly coinciding with the Swiss Caravan Salon that starts today.

My Ocean 4M 150PS configuration, assuming no discounts, would be roughly 14% higher if I ordered today compared to my order in Dec-2020. This works out to about £8000.

In other news, this is theoretically my build week. I'm refreshing the myvokswagen garage space way too often every day in the hopes of seeing a VIN, but so far nada.

And... at... long... last... 382 days after ordering
... Billy will be ready to collect next Thursday! The dealer has sent me a video showing me round, a nice touch.
Can anyone spot what's missing?
