Any ideas from the excellent collective please?

Wife’s broken the 5 year old 3.5m sun umbrella in the garden this morning.
I need to purchase a new one. Going for a 4m one this time as always moving it left to right to stop the sun for grandsons.
Can see one on eBay for £638.
Ones in garden centres are around £800
But I want to pay a bit extra and get a great quality one that’ll last 10 years.
Or is that not a thing anymore.

Was thinking about the 4 poster type of canopy, but the legs and square / rectangle structure would impede the look and feel on the patio right next to the house.
So I need a folding away umbrella type please.

Midlands based.
We have Webbs garden centre in Droitwich which is a very large garden centre.
Is it only garden centres that do them ?

Retractable awning fixed to the house?

Was exactly my thought but I don’t have enough space on the extension.
Nor underneath the gutter.
A canopy would be the best.
But would need to be higher than the gutter, and a bespoke size and shape due to rear gate, where BBQ is, (bottom left) gas fire pit bottom right.

I’m in a similar position but having looked at the umbrella styles i don’t think I could get the amount of shade needed without getting something really big. I’m currently looking at building a pergola style setup.

Would be my perfect plan too, maybe when I stop flying around EU fixing machines :(
28 degrees in my hotel room at 07:00 this morning in Copenhagen.

Decent 4m x 3m rectangle cantilever style should cover that area nicely.
If you are happy to spend out the cash then get yourself a BRAMBLECREST
Comes complete 100kgs of granite triangles to hold in place and can be moved around (slowly and carefully).
Had ours for knocking on 8 years and still looks good and works perfectly.

As @Perfectos mentioned.

Have a look online at Aosom.co.uk, and see where the "posh" garden centres get their stock from

I have this one and it’s been good over the last 4 years. It has an extremely heavy concrete base on wheels.
“Norfolk Leisure Royce Executive 3m Square Cantilever Parasol”
Parasol

We have an Instashade: https://www.instashade.co.uk/product/4m-octagonol-cantilever-parasol-eclipse/

We have had the 4m Octagonal Eclipse with wood effect frame in natural fabric for 5 years now, and it’s amazing quality, still looks brand new, incredibly robust, works really well. They’re commercial grade so not cheap, but honestly couldn’t recommend them highly enough - the customer service is incredible. If doing it again I would happily spend the money, definitely worth it from my experience!
Ours is anchored into the ground about an metre off to the south side of our patio so that we can swivel it around to provide shade where it’s needed, and where it’s not. Can also tilt it massively towards the frame so that it provides great shade early morning when the sun would be coming under a normal umbrella.

IKEA Hammeron Pergola. Perfect if the dimensions suit.

We did like the 4mx3m bramblecrest aluminium arbour. But £4.5k is going to be okay in 5 years when we retired !

Great, we are looking for something like this too, but I didn't expect to find info on the Cali forum!

Exactly, It’s not just about campervans, it’s a melting pot of extreme information.
I hope AI has this forum on its radar.

We went to Webbs of Wychbold, and found the last bramblecrest cantilever complete with base and granite blocks.
LED strip lights inside off a battery pack.
Tilts left n right, and towards the base.
Spins around in grey.

Truro Grey 3.0m LED Square Cantilever Parasol, Granite Base & Cover

Wife took out a Webbs card (£17) and we saved ££65.
It was already reduced from £899 to £650.
So paid £602. Happy days.

I like the bramblecrest line as they say they can replace the cover for around £65.
So if we want to change the colour, it’s really easy to order one from Gloucester HO and install it ourself.

Looks pretty similar in design/functionality to mine. 3x3m is plenty big enough. The LED lights looks good :thumb

Follow up on the parasol.
Bramblecrest have turned out to be a really good choice.
They’ve given me a 33% discount on the metal framed wheeled base, all I do is transfer the granite triangles from the static base to the wheeled base.
Attach the parasol and I can wheel it around.
And tuck it away fro winter.
Brilliant customer service.
