I know beach users often have the thermoelectric coolers from VW which are great but always on and thus a bit power hungry. However I noticed on ebay this little device which is a thermstatic relay for very little money.
I wonder if this wired into such a cooler could in effect turn the fan off when it was down to temperature instead of continuing to drain the batteries. It will depend I guess on how cold those coolers actually get.
