I got a warning message about the ABS sensor and tyre pressure so I need to get the sensors replaced however when the error pops up I also get an error about the ACC forward sensor not working and sometimes I even get an error about the stop start system not working. So is this more than just an ABS sensor? I am currently in the Scottish islands and don't get home for another week and the MOT is then due so will it fail the MOT with all these faults showing?

I don’t have acc but tyre pressure, stop start and abs warning all come on when the abs sensor goes. The sensors measure wheel speed so it wouldn’t surprise me if somehow related to acc.
I think it would be an MOT fail but it’s also a very quick / easy repair - if you can change a wheel you can do it yourself.

Is it worth changing all 4 sensors or is it just the rear ones that fail?

I just changed the one that failed but you need to be able to identify which one so if the van is telling you it’s the rear I’d be inclined to change both for ease. On my t5.1 I can use Carista to identify the specific sensor - not sure if Carista works on newer vans.

Yes the sensor will bring up all of those faults, just replace the one that is messaged to you.

there is an update on this. The alarm started going off when we left the van, i tried pressing the switch on the B pillar but it would not turn yellow. so in the end i used carista to disable the alarm. after a few days i re-enabled the alarm and the switch on the B pillar started working again. But since then i have had no ABS errors or any of the other errors. Van is at garage today for MOT so i have asked them to take a quick look to see if i need the ABS sensor changing or not.

Does anyone know which is the correct sensor for 2017 T6 California 4Motion offside rear ABS sensor?

If you use somewhere like Euro Car Parts and put your reg in it should guide you to the right ones and probably give you a choice of brands and price points

The ABS / Wheel Speed sensor are the same things. Strictly it is a Wheel Speed Sensor connected to and used by the ABS System/Module, which in turn uses them directly for the ABS/DSC function and it also uses them to determine an average vehicle speed using the combination of all four sensors and wheel diameter.

The Warning Lights are due to:

The indirect TPMS (Tyre Pressure System), uses the individual wheel speed to determine if the tyre pressure has changed a notifiable amount - the lower the pressure more rotations. Loss of Wheel speed sensor will drop this system out as it is not longer able to determine this.

The ABS/DSC system uses the individual wheel speeds to determine loss of traction, wheel lock-up and is a key sensor combined with accelerometers looking at the vehicle motion. The system will set a warning as the system will only be partially effective with a defective wheel speed signal.

The ACC will drop out as a result of not having a fully functioning ABS/DSC system and a less accurate speed signal, so will force the driver to take full control.

Stop Start will stop functioning as there will be doubt over the vehicle speed and thus the system won't stop the engine without being certain the vehicle is stationary.
