Additional chair storage

If you have the additional chairs, it helps to have somewhere handy to store them?

Where do you store yours?

Ours go in the bike shed.

For seven seat Beach owners this is a serious question. One that needs to be answered before buying. Most people won't want all seven seats in the van all of the time so provision must be made for suitable storage. Remember, these seats are heavy and bulky.

I store ours hidden under two purpose built removable storage units/seats in our yet to be completed Pub shed in the garden. The box to the bottom left of this photo is one of the said storage seats.

Remove two screws and each storage unit/seat lifts off revealing the swivel seat.

Then lift them out and onto our trolley and wheel them out to the Van. These storage units/seats will eventually be disguised by being painted and possibly upholstered to provide seats or a storage shelf behind the bar. The "whiskey box" currently lives on top of one.

As I've answered the question, please forgive me if I wander from the subject a little to one which seems to very popular at the moment - the Pub Shed. For those pub shed fans - The "Red Lion" named after the place where I met my wife (she was the landlords daughter), was not my idea. I don't drink that often and only then in moderation, unless of course I'm with Cali friends. No, it was our offsprings' idea. I had just had the shed errected to be my workshop. At that time it was empty and we were just about to have a family christening. Our eldest, who brews his own beer from scratch, asked if we could equip it as a pub to augment the party that followed that event. Long story short, it was such a sucess that our four and their partners demanded that it stayed a Pub. After weighing up which use would get used more, the decision was obvious. That was several years ago and it's proved to be extremely popular indeed.



I still have the hardwood bar fronts to make and fit and reclaimed (ex Boy Scout hut) teak parquet flooring to lay. Then it's paint and paper with a couple of hop bines and a worn Indian rug to finish the effect. The completed pub should have a faux early twentieth century feel complete with nicotine cream ceilings and hand distressed dark green eggshell match boarding below waist height. For the walls we have some period pattern William Morris wall paper in dark green courtesy of Ebay. I'm just trying to culture the right smell now.

Close to a pub is always a must.

As for the storage of those chairs , can't you just use them to sit in , they would look good in a man-cave!

As for those seats, you could easily use them for other applications although you might want a something a tad more comfortable after a few glasses of refreshment.

It's hard to describe in detail but the two chief ingredients have to be stale spilt beer and cigarette smoke. Throw in some customers who provide their own aroma and hey presto.

One of my friends had the same problem. His shed was full of gym equipment that didn't get used. It's now getting much more use as the newly commissioned "Black dog". Another friend is converting his summer house. Both of these chums appear to have have been converted after a couple of very liquid sessions in the "Red Lion".
Both our eldest son and eldest daughter also have plans underway for Pub sheds as well. In the case of number one son, he has gone one stage further and intends to have a mini brewery in his. Lots of boxes containing large stainless steel brewing plant have been arriving this week so he really has the bit between his teeth. I have been helping him built his pub. So far we have completed the footings, the concrete base and have bought the windows and doors. It's the blockwork next.

Don't get me wrong these sheds are not intended as places to consume vast quantities of alcohol. As I've already mentioned, I don't drink that often and then not much. What they are is a haven of peace and tranquility. One of my son's in law fitted some gizmo into it to enable wifi to work. I quietly lost that! No, they are great places to socialise and chat with friends and relations. When we have a party most of our guests end up in the pub leaving us free to get everything ready. The trouble is, they leave us to look after their children as well.

I used to have a Peugeot 805 with seven seats, we travelled a lot with two small boys and always left two seats in the garage, the boys sat in the rear, we kept one seat in the centre, as it folded down into a table and with front captains chairs it very useful, we could also separate the boys when they started fighting.

When I came to sell it, I found one of the seats (which had remained folded), had the cloth seats been eaten by mice!. Didn't affect the sale as it was used in part exchange with a dealer.

I’m thinking of getting a metal shed from Asgard but I’m concerned about the seats getting damp. Up to now, the seats have lived a rather awkward life under various desks and tables, but everyone hates them being in the house!

Wrap in plastic and include a Disposable Dehumidifier within the package, or Vacuum Pack.

We’ve stored ours in the bike shed for 8 years when not in the van and have no mould issues. The shed is well ventilated with a gap under the eves front and back.
