The German government has denounced experiments funded by German carmakers in which humans and monkeys reportedly inhaled diesel exhaust fumes.
German media say the health impact research was done by EUGT, a body funded by Volkswagen, Daimler and BMW.

We have all inhaled these fumes ever since Herr Diesel's bright idea became the universal power source for humanity, I see life expectancy has been growing at unprecedented rates ever since, puzzling what.

Latest BBC story research carried out on humans & monkies on diesel exhaust fumes. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-42858668

Also in the article:-
A new study by a German car specialist, Ferdinand Dudenhöffer, says levels of pollution from diesel cars are still too high in 10 German cities, so the vehicles are likely to be banned from the pollution hotspots unless engines are upgraded.

According to his research, vehicle software upgrades would not be enough to address the problem. Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Cologne are among the cities with serious pollution hotspots.

If the current problem cannot be overcome by software upgrades it could be a long wait for my new Ocean.

Everyone knows diesels days are numbered (as is any city polluting vehicle) and maybe sooner than believed say two or three years ago. However, VW will never be in *real* trouble - they are far too rich, powerful and important to Germany [ie Europe] for that...money always talks.

And, what if the monkey talks?

Which one? Tork? Dolenz?

:D

Sorry.

I'm on the side of the monkey. The market will (eventually) dictate as it always does (2018 diesel car sales down 30% last Dec on 2017) but VW will not be made or allowed to suffer to any huge degree I'm sure.

Also that with processed foods and additives people grow taller and live longer. I realise medical capability has improved immensely but growth is down to food and processed at that..
Planners can help greatly by not building high rise building around busy roads as that is the main reason for high pollution levels ( and slow moving traffic). Unless we are forced onto public transport we need fossil fuels for a very long time and that is reality.
