Bed gas strut failure!

Has anyone had any problems with there gas struts failing due to the heat? We went away last Friday after the Cali had been sat on the drive for 2 weeks in the sun. We put the electric roof up as normal with no problems but when we went to lift the bed into the roof it kept falling down. It appeared that the gas struts have no gas left in them giving no resistance. They were absolutely fine the outing before. Is it just coincidence or has the heat affected them?

How do you disconnect it and replace these?

If you read the thread that @Sad linked to, you'll have your answer ;-) But the short answer is, they 'clip on' and it's a 10 minute diy job. Parts diagram here.
