I am gutted I got my hopes up to buy myself a California 4motion and it never worked out wasted about a month waiting for the deal to happen and got let down.

But it could have been worse as he did try to rip me off and lucky I was on the ball as it has got hp on it and he tried to get me to pay him all the money.

So if anyone is looking at getting a white T5 4motion BEWARE.

I also missed out on another good one waiting for him.

If you are buying privately, then once you have the registration you can check the MOT history for free: https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history and check if the vehicle is taxed correctly for free: https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax for free. You can also check to see if it is insured for free by going to askMID.com. You can check that the MOT history (assuming more than 3 years old) tallies with the dates and mileage of the service record. If you take a photo of the service record you can google the garages listed to see if they seem to really exist and then phone the latest one explaining that you are looking to buy a vehicle and if you are polite and patient the garages will usually check their records for you and hopefully confirm the service record.

Unfortunately I am not aware of any free check for outstanding credit - but there are loads of websites out there that can do this for you from £1.99 up to about £14.99 if you use one of the well know breakdown organisations. You pays your money and takes your choice.

I once had a bad feeling about a car that I was going to buy from a home based trader - seemed too good to be true. So I phoned the previous owner listed on the V5 only to find out that they seemed surprised that the car still existed given the really bad accident it had been in when they last saw it and the insurance company had paid out! I walked away from that sale very quickly.

Given the typical price of a California, a bit of time researching a vehicle, and spending just a few pounds on a credit check is time and money well spent IMO. An honest seller should have no issues with you asking lots of questions and making some notes when you see the V5 and service record, and letting you check the VIN number on the van and that on the V5 etc.

Only 2 T5 white California 4motions

That I know of and I have looked high and low

No doubt there are more but I think that I have made it clear enough to beware of California white 4motions for sale

They could well be ok with someone else just be careful.

The online MOT history check linked above is a great tool.

I also like https://cazana.com/uk as a quick initial check as it gives you some useful info for free that is hard to find elsewhere.

What's the reg OP?
