Brake pads

My ' check brake pads ' warning light has come on, van has done close on 37000 miles. Need to take action here in Turkey, any advice please on...

1. After the warning light shows, how much pad is likely to be left ?

2. In UK what would the ball park figure be for replacement of Front & Rear pads inc labour but expressed separately ?

3. If I can't get VW pads what considerations are there re non VW parts ?

Hi hope you are enjoying your trip sounds like quite an adventure you are on.

Have been on the T4/5 forum to try and get some brake wear info. The millage sounds right as they normally wear
down to 1.5mm (MOT failure) after covering after 40,000 miles. The wear light would come on way before this and yours have covered 37,000 miles.

Eurocarparts are charging £200 for front and rear pads but of course you will have to add labour cost to that figure.

I have has a look at the vw website and they quote £239 for both front pads and discs. for the pads on their own they are charging £119. These are fully fitted prices with 2 years warranty and genuine vw parts 1 year on labour warranty. I have no doubt that if you can get a better quote using vw parts then they will compete on this.
