The linkage in the (rather overcomplicated) hinge mechanism adjacent to the strut has snapped so that the lid does not close smoothly which will undoubtedly break the other hinges before long unless I fix it.
Is this a common problem and does anyone have information about where to source a replacement from ( and what type of screwdriver is required to remove the hinges)?
I wonder if this has happened because the gas strut is more stiff than it ought to be so causing excessive stress on the adjacent hinge. Do the gas struts need any regular attention?
