Buying a used Cali - what questions

Before I go and look at a used Cali (2008, 37,000kms looks mint) what would be the top 10 questions you would specifically ask peculiar to a Cali ?

I've got questions around the heater and if it works OK without the ignition on
Fridge operational

Any gems would be well recieved.

Hi there. This is what I would ask apart from the usual questions
1. Is the roof working properly
2. Is the control panel all working
3.has it had the earth shunt repair
4.do all the blinds pull down and stay down
5.does the tailgate stay up when opened
6.does the heater remote work
7.is the canvas ok on the roof
8.if fitted does the wind out awning work
9. That's all I can think of for now but I'm sure I have forgotten loads someone ele will be along

Does it have a full service history? If not when did it last visit a VW dealer?
Has any campaign/warranty work been carried out?
Has it had any paint repairs / Accident damage?
Does the A/C get cold?

Just make sure you test/operate everything. Wind out the awning, raise the roof, run some water if possible, run the heater.

I'd agree with all of the above. If the previous owner hasn't taken care when closing the roof it can snag, or worse warp the roof.

I read this review today and there are three Cali's for sale at the bottom of the review.

Thanks for all this - am off to look at it on Wednesday. Its an 08 SE 174 PS TDI PD M. There are very few Calis in NZ and this one came from the UK with its owner - he bought new and exported when they moved here. I've asked all the obvious questions and the roof has had one repair, well is about to get a repair as the guy knew all about the problems and challenges closing and was very proud it was OK. Then he rang me to say he had snagged it when he was lowering it ! Oh well.
Anyway will go and have a look - its only the 3rd one i have seen for sale in about 4 years !
