This unusual two-story camper van is built on the chassis of a lightweight BYD truck. The extendable roof terrace even allows for overnight stays.

High-quality camper van conversions on affordable base vehicles – this combination has been seen before, for example, with camper vans based on Dacia vehicles. The Chinese manufacturer BYD is also known in Germany for its affordable electric cars.

The manufacturer's light commercial vehicles are not readily available in Germany. This camper van, featuring unusual details, was built on the basis of such a vehicle, optionally with a hybrid drive and a combined range of 1,000 kilometers. The magazine Promobil discovered it in this Instagram post.

Lightweight - you are having a laugh!!
Its a 7.5tnne truck , I suppose its lighter than a 38 tonne one , but not a buzz rival in any way.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I just translated the description from the German press.

Where have they hidden the full bathroom? the interior shot is taken from standing in the doorway & looking at the exterior there's nothing to the right of the door so where is it?

BYD are slowly moving into the people carrier market…so it’s only a matter of time before they produce a Buzz / Multivan equivalent.

The head is to the right of the door behind the passenger seat. Lower access door prob the cassette toilet disposal.

I wonder how long it takes to charge a 1000km range battery on campsite hookup :Nailbiting

Good if you are on safari

Tough times for the car industry…..

Yep.

Changes to motability scheme will hit any non UK car manufacturer.

The company that I work for put the EV salary sacrifice scheme on hold a couple of months ago with no plans to reinstate, so expect other large companies will follow. Guess they are expecting changes on taxation.

I watched a schmee150 video on YouTube a couple of days ago, about the popping of the super car bubble and depreciation disaster of his collection. Poor guy haha.

I’ll have a watch, no doubt, shed a few tears for him…

Quite what the reality vs the concept might look like but that’s what I’m waiting for.
