Cali holiday in January - where to go ?

Hi All,

My wife and I have the first 2 weeks of January to go exploring (2 adults only). We have been thinking of flying somewhere hot for some Winter sun, but are also considering taking a trip in our Cali. Trouble is we can’t decide where to go.

We would be really interested in ideas/experiences you’ve had or are planning.

It depends if you are seeking winter warmth (apart from that provided by the Cali heater!) or not. I love Scotland in the winter as well as the summer; there’s lots of wild camping options and some sites open year round, for showers etc

We tend to go to Capo de Gata in the South of Spain but that may be a bit far from the UK and just two weeks, unless you take the ferry to Santander.

Spain is a good call - the central region has some marvellous cities to see that are unbearably hot in summer (I was in Córdoba this August). However I would be a tad cautious about the Santander crossing in winter - a long crossing if it’s rough (unless you have sea legs of steel)...
