Love the blog and the photo, how do you find the Cali to drive with 2 sea kayaks on top?

I pick up my new van this week, and am already planning a few short trip, the first to pick up my sea kayak, although not sure how to load it yet as I almost did myself an injury just loading it on a Rav4.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark
The Karitek rack http://www.karitek.co.uk/ELRRIntroMulti.html works a treat - they are mounted direct to the rails. We have no problem motoring with the two sea kayaks on top. However, I take them off before popping the roof for the night. Don't want to risk burning out the motor. Only takes a few minutes to unload.

It wouldn't be easy loading a sea kayak to standard roof bars on a Cali without risk of damaging the roof while sliding the boat up. I have done this on other high vehicles though - I put a strip of karimat across the rear of the vehicle, rest the bow on this and then slide the boat up over the tailgate onto the bars. However I would suggest the Karitek rack is a better alternative if you can stomach the cost!

That said - a sea kayak and a Cali is a perfect mix for some fun adventures whatever the load method :)

Good luck
