Hiya,
We are thinking of signing up for a club meet (Dorset in September). We've never been to one of these events before. Can somebody give us an idea for what happens? Why might we want to go to a club meet as opposed to doing our own thing?
Looking forward to hearing more.
M

We all take our clothes off, wear goats heads and dance in a pentacle. At midnight we sacrifice a Marco Polo. :Nailbiting

No really. We just meet people we've got to know on the forum, swap tips and make new friends! You can still do your own thing. Plus it's usually good value camping. :thumb

The meets are a social event to meet likewise people. Show off your Cali, get ideas for future travels, see other people’s setups etc. If nothing else an excuse to get away for the weekend. You can do as much or as little socialising as you want. Slim bridge we all got together in the evenings for a drink and chat on site. Some meet up in the local pub. It’s just a way of meeting other Cali owners.

As above, except for the goat's head bit, etc. It's a chance to meet other owners and see what they have bought and found useful also what they have bought and wished they hadn't. Interesting to hear where people have been, nice sites they have visited. You also get a lot of hints and tips about how the vehicle works.
We have made a lot of friends in our 2½ years of Cali owning and been to some lovely places. It's a fabulous way of seeing places without having to do too much booking up in advance, like B&B or hotels, etc. If you go to the smaller sites they can usually squeeze you in, especially if you don't need a hook up.

OMG I know we haven't been to one for awhile now but I can't believe how much they have changed I must book one before it gets full :)

We have been to just a couple of club meets now and everyone is so welcoming. As a seldom solo traveller I was slightly anxious thinking everyone would already know each other but this was not the case at all, I made a few good friends there that I now keep in touch with. If you have not been to one I highly recommend it as it is basically a field of like minded people that will just sit around and chat to each other, you will learn so much !!

Hope I didn’t scare the OP off! :mute

We learnt so much from the first club meet we went to, I think it actually saved us around £1000 in accessories we would not use. A highly recommend meets to any newbies
