My Ocean is due it’s first MOT. My local garage says it has to be under 3000 kgs in weight and class 4 for them to be able to do it.
The registration document says it’s 3080 kgs and I’m not sure what class it is!
Its a 2017 Cali Ocean TDI BMT 4M SA ( if that helps)
I look forward to some help on this , thank you

Class 4. Its a M1 Diesel Car.
That weight is the Maximum Gross Weight, or fully laden weight.

The 1st MOT can be done upto 28/30 days before the first registration whilst still keeping the MOT date the same as the Registration date.

Amarillo had its first MOT recently. They picked up a couple of items and fixed them under warranty.

Great service from SMG Tonbridge.

But I should have asked for one of my compensatory AdBlue top ups as the warning light came on 500 miles later and 11.13 litres cost me £9.01 at the pump.

My local garage did mine, not a Commercial specialist.

Ironically then found that it was due a 3 year brake fluid change so then took into VW for that plus a couple of logged error codes found on the OBD.

I did wonder about this. Thanks
You need to emphasise this when booking in as I once made the assumption that it would be done automatically, it wasn't and told that as it was now all processed it couldn't be changed. All online box ticking i was told. May be wrong. Always stress the current expiry date now. Think that instance was during the transfer from paper to all electronic MOT certificates period.

Yes I have just booked MOT with Birmingham Van Centre. On booking they also mentioned that the brake fluid is due a change at 3 years, so will have this done at same time.

VW brake fluid charge was £54 incl VAT. just for info.

Many thanks BJG for that. I did wonder.

Is something that I normally do myself, but don't fancy crawling around in this weather.

One of the negatives of buying on annual reg change.
Servicing jobs due in mid-winter, not DIY friendly.
Positive could be that Garages have loads of MOTs etc to do then so not trying to find work to do, in order to boost income.

Just had my first MOT done. Two VW garages sent reminders and both mentioned the brake fluid change after three years and then every two years. Brake fluid £54 inc VAT. My V5C says Vehicle category - M1, Taxation class - Diesel Car ( both the same as my Golf). Revenue weight 3080 Kg Gross. MOT would have been £50, but I had the first MOT included with the 4 service plan.

£40 mot at VW van centre Lancashire today, had a gander over a top notch 6.1 Ocean.

Our 1st MOT is due in April and useful to know about the brake fluid change at 3 years as won’t be making a journey to Liverpool ( where we purchased BB) , Glasgow VW Commercial will be doing the MOT.
Glasgow did the 1st service (at 2 years) and we were happy with their customer service… BB had no issues so I guess that makes the job a lot easier. Fingers crossed the MOT goes smoothly as we’re hopeful of a fuller year of trips this year.

It’s beginning of March and just tried to book 1st MOT, due end of April and couldn’t get a date in Glasgow VW commercial until after due date. And there I thought I was too early !
Called Edinburgh and they could accommodate, means a ‘very early start’ and not used them for anything before as 1st service was done in Glasgow !

Whilst it would be ideal to get VW to do the first one so anything can be fixed under warranty.
If they cant fit you in why not just take it to a local MOT station if there is a problem fitting it in? Probably half the price of VW. Get it done a couple of weeks before due - a month before gets you a 13 month MOT.
