Can anyone recommend any good family campsites around Santander?

Have looked at Playa Joyel in Noja which looks good with family facilities and great location however looks huge and really busy, anyone stayed there?

We found it very busy and commercialised. Ok for stopover but no more. Check out Camping La Paz- much better.

I've never been here but I have friends who rate it highly so look at Camping Playa Joyel, Noja

Camping Oyambre near San Vincente de la Barquera is a good site we’ve stayed at both of the other sites and this one is very good probably most family friendly (and we don’t have any kids). Very well run near a beach excellent cafe bar serving good cheap food.

Thanks for the recommendations, really appreciated thanks!

Another vote here for Camping La Paz.

Also Camping Comillas, a little closer to Santander and also right by the sea. There's a house designed by Gaudi in the town (Comillas) too.

Camping La Viorna is great.

Even better is Camping El Redondo, just a bit further up the mountain by the Fuente De cable car. Only small campers will fit in, not great whites. Magical place run by lovely people. There are some miseryguts reviews on tripadvisor and Google - I have to say this wasn't our experience at all.

Did they still have the great Dane and cat? This is one of our magical, places where we camped amongst the gentians in October. Paradise.

At El Redondo there were three friendly dogs but not a Great Dane as far as I recall!

We did northern Spain last year. Highly recommend Comillas and the campsite there. Pitches are on cliff top overlooking the sea. Facilities basic but clean. Comillas is a lovely town.
We did La Viorna and whilst we enjoyed it it wasn’t the highlight of our trip but I think that may be as weather not that great which meant we couldn’t use pool so had to go out in the van to find things to do - which is hassle packing stuff up each morning (although we are family of 4 and possibly have more crap in our van than others). The views and scenery were amazing though.

Camping joyel in Noja is a fantastic campsite if you have young kids. Mine just love going for walks and playing in the river on the beach. We think it’s one of the best campsite in Europe. We have been to a few. Going back to Noja for 3rd time this June. (U don’t need to book in June and it’s less busy, will also avoid the weekend. It can be noisy on the weekends in Spanish campsites
