Anyone know where I can get a carpet with Rail cut-outs in a colour other than grey or black?
Nothing wrong with either of those really but the cali is grey outside with grey seats, grey floor, grey cupboards etc so it would be nice to go a bit less monochrome.

Why go for a carpet with cutouts for the rails. Just means the dirt etc can fall into the rails. Personally I would get a carpet that is edged and " hinged" so that it can fold up to fit the space when the bed is pulled out. That way the rails are protected, any colour or pattern. Our local carpet/rug shop said they could do that. 3 or 4 strips, each edged and joined by canvas backing so will fold easily. That's what I'll do when I upgrade.

Some lovely colourful marvel mats or hug rug fit really nicely. Drawn still open - they roll up easy and are machine washable.

Interesting - thanks. I was blissfully unaware of hinged carpets. Would be nice to get one with a nice underside so when you fold it, hey presto, there’s another carpet!

I try really hard every day to not think about stuff my kids may or may not have dropped into the rails.. mainly because I’ve seen what they’ve dropped that missed the rails.

Thanks everyone. Food for thought. The hunt continues.

If you use a portapotti it becomes challenging to roll/fold the carpet, there's hardly any room. Of course you could take the PP out, roll/fold the carpet and put the PP on top but still not ideal.
So I use 2 soft carpets place perpendicular to the direction of travel and when I need to move the bench I just remove the carpet next to the bench, fold it and store it in the front footwell, the other , on which the PP sits, being much smaller, I can just about roll/fold enough to allow the bench to move forward to make up the downstairs bed.

We use marvel mats from dunelm. I bought 2 wide runners, marked on the tracks with tape where the bed goes when out, then trimmed the 1st rug to size. Then fitted the 2nd rug, going into the walkway between the 2 captain seats. Any left overs made door mats.
This means I can just lift the mat closest to the bed up and place ontop of the other mat when the beds out.
The draws open properly when the rugs are down. They are rubber backed so no leaking if we have a spil. They cut easily with a Stanley knife. Dont fray. And best of all, easily go in the washing machine.

Good idea but make sure the carpet is not too thick or the bench seat drawer will not slide over it.

Whaaat? I got all excited at the mention of Marvel mats, spoke to my son, Herbie, about it and we were thinking maybe Captain America or Iron Man… the penny has now definitely dropped.

That looks great. Which size mats/runner did you buy?

I just have two bathroom mats approx £15 from sainsburys (rubber backed and machine washable). Roll back when bed is pulled out.
I even put a couple of old towels ontop. It’s amazing the dirt that you take into the van.

That looks neat! Do you just put the rear mats on top of the front ones at bedtime?

Followed your guidance and they look pretty good - and the drawer still opens smoothly

I like these:) I’m probably being a bit dim here but what size exactly are they before cutting please?

@Trudi @Mattsv

I went with 2 x 150×80 which were £35 each - this gives full side to side coverage with plenty left over for the step - might use some of the other offcuts for shelf liners in the boot cupboards.

I did the same thing, and have been very happy with it for almost 4 years. I have only one problem, it is to hold the carpets in place on the 3 door steps. I tried several times with velcro, but no glue lasts long on the rubber on the back of the mats. And in this way I have already lost the carpet of the driver's door several times. Do you have a good solution?

Not tried but putting the anti slip mats you put in the cupboards might work

You need the Industrial type Velcro, has stronger glue. Also clean rubber with some spirit then lightly rub with some sandpaper or new, coarse, pan scrubber before applying Velcro.

Good idea, thank you! I had not made any special preparation of the rubber. I was thinking more of an incompatibility between the material and the glue. I'll try.
