Hi - the material is a heavy duty PVC (like a boat covering) so it keeps the wind and wet out and keeps the heat in. You raise the roof slightly and attach, and then raise the roof fully and attach bungees to awning rail clips. It is easy once you have done it a few times.

I have one, bought for my T5.1, now using it on my T6.1, I'd say essential for camping in snow as it keeps the snow and weather off the roof mechanism as well as the bellows.

Excellent for extended periods of heavy rain, and it keeps the van warmer in winter.

Easy enough to put on, I would not be without mine.
