Curved rafter for awning

Why not a vertical, adjustable pole with a large pad to place in the centre when required?

I tried that before I bought the curved rafter and it worked well until one windy night there wasn't enough rain water to hold the awning down and it lifted just a few inches and the pole fell over. I bought the curved rafter after that and it has worked pretty well for us. I put a horizontal pole from side to side across the top of the rafter as a belt and braces solution. I use one of the window cleaners poles that is 5 feet long, but extends up to about 9 feet when extended. It also serves as a prodder for getting the Topper to the other side when putting it on by myself.

Ive thought the same thing regarding a pole stuck in the middle of the awning. And especially after just having a brand new awning fitted. I was looking for something a bit more professional and something thats not going to overstreatch the awning material. I think I will try the curved rafter pro after most comments are favourable.

How did you find the fit. Are they secure enough or can they turn so the curved part which is obviously suppose to face up somehow turns and faces down. Or do they have fixing brackets.

No, the shape and fitting ensures the rafter doesn't turn over like some do with non-fitted awnings. They have a rectangular type of ferrule at each end to cover a hook fitting designed for Fiamma awnings. These caps are quite loose, but assist the fit in Cali awning rails when the rafter is tensioned.

We bought the curved rafter from the club shop and have been pleased with it, but obviously it's quite long for van storage. We still wouldn't leave the awning out in torrential rain.

Ok ive just bought a Fiamma curved rafter Pro. Saw it on ebay (brand New still in packaging) got it for £23.77.
Being sold by caravan dealer only a mile from my house so picked it up only 2 hours after buying it.
I think that was a bit of a bargain. Now just got to wait till it stops raining to try it out and as we live in Wales it could be a long wait.
