Very excited to pick up our new (old!) cali aptly on independence day! We have a dog and I keep trying to work out the best way to travel with her. The van has leather seats which isn’t ideal for keeping her in one place. I’ve read some threads here about tether hooks to the floor, can you still move the seat to become a bed or do you have to take the hook out every time? Thank you for any dog related advice!

Is this for travelling and/or sleeping arrangements?
Is she a big dog?

We have a crate for our Parsons Russell.
Day to day we have the crate on the back shelf as he likes to look out the window.
When we are packed for travelling he's in the crate in front of the rear seats on an anti-slip mat.
And for sleeping he is put in the crate inside otherwise he'll be all over the seats and trying to jump up top.
You should be able to get a runner tether hook and placed near the front you should be able to still put the bed down without having to remove it.
I wouldn't recommend tethering her for travel though as I'm not sure that's a safe option and if stopped by the police I'm not sure its legal either.
You could invest in a decent seat protector and seatbelt harness.

Within the floor rail next to the kitchen there is a mechanical stop for the bed when moving it forward. If you fit the tether hook between the rail stop and the front of the rail then you won’t have to remove it.

We have an air freight crate that our German Wirehaired Pointer travels in behind the front seat, it is also useful in the awning for her to sleep in overnight

Mid size who loves mud! For day to day wouldn’t want to be lifting her into a crate looking as she does after most walks, was thinking to use vet fleece with the sticky bottom and clip her harness to a d ring. She usually sits on the back seat of a fiat 500 but it’s so small when the seats are back they pretty much touch the back seat so she is very contained. I’m worried she’d fly off the leather seats…
