Electric shock from spare wheel nut!

HI,
Just got our new Cali Ocean and was reading on the forum about putting a security bolt on to stop the spare wheel getting nicked. I was charging the batteries from the hook up at the time and got a shock whenever I touched the bolt. I disconnected the hookup and no more shock. Any ideas what might be going on?

Check your hookup cable has a good earth connection at each end.

Still not sure - VW supposed to be coming back to me but I'll have to chase them - lack of earth on cable sounds a good one though.
