French/Spanish trip sites help

Hi all we are presently on route towards Montpellier and onwards along the coast. Does anyone have any recommendations of good sites that are within walking distance of villages etc , we are happy to stay along the coast or go into the country side. We really do not like anything to commercial. One problem we have is the dogs are really not enjoying the heat and aren’t allowed on most of the beaches so far. Cheers Paul, Chris and AJ

Millau on your way to Montpellier is a great stopover for a couple of nights. Stayed at Camping Les Rivages along the Dourbie. Wonderful campsite and quiet.
Must do: Gorges du Tarn, visit the expo about the Viaduc de Millau, Gorges de la Jonte, and all the worth visiting hamlets around!!

Otherwise, not along the coast: Colombiers.

Montpellier and its beaches is a nice place.
In this area, a little more south, I love the bathing feet of the Pyrenees [From Port Vendres downwards] ... and down to Costa Brava.
I live there and, really, it's heaven on earth !

Not to forget the 56 campings in Argelès-sur-Mer, if they are still open. A lot of coastal campings close after the months july and august. Some stay open till end of september, only a very few will stay open longer.
