You shouldn't need to Glen.

It should be possible to effect a gas seal just by hand tightening alone. I have arthritic hands yet have never used a spanner, unlike the brass gas connection on a propane bottle used in our caravan.

I've also got arthritic hands, hand tight only, don't use any spanners!

Hand tight only works for me

I use this one. It is made especially for this use and can be found at all sellers of accessories for caravans. But you should never force when tightening.

As it is not ideal to use pliers and the nut can be hard to unscrew , i saw a usefull little tool yesterday at CCN . Ok , the botlle don't need to come out that much but still a nice tool.
